Sticking notes and buffer size questions

Hello,

I am getting stuck MIDI notes on playback when using Sonar X3 (latest update), a Roland Octacapture, a Midi Solutions Quadra Thru box, and a Roland M GS64 sound canvas. I also have two tracks of audio running in each project. My MIDI Playback buffers are set at 1024 and Always echo Current MIDI Track is checked. My File System Playback I/O Buffer Size is set to 256. The unusual thing in addition to the stuck notes is that sometimes it it is more than one note sticking and sounds as if there is a series of notes that are repeated in a sequence that continually repeats. This anomaly is happening at almost every show.

Should I increase the buffer sizes?  Turn off the sound canvas between sets? Can quite figure this one out on my own and appreciate any solutions presented.

    Hi,

I had the same experience but only with the older DX instruments on a new empty track. That was the first thing I tried when I bought X3 a few months ago. Loading TTS-1 and fiddling around on the keyboard will for me most certainly result in stuck notes. Allso changing the playback buffer did not help. I allso tried another midi interface but that made no difference. With de VST instruments however I have no issues at all!!!!

I found that the problem with DX instruments only is there on a new empty track. If you create an instrument track and first record a few measures and play that recording back... after that the problem seems to be gone. Works for me so maybe works for you. Is no solution but a workaround. I have no idea what the cause is. I now avoid the DX instruments for real playing. Recording and Playing back a midi track gives no problems at all.

    Best regards,
