Question what drum software do you use or is it real drums? or samples? It sound OK here I want to give it a few more listens before I make any further comment.

Great job again bat. The harmony on the first verse may be too distracting. I really like the overall sound of the mix on this one. The bass is especially full, punchy and clear. The guitars are perfect. Drums sound great. All of it is really nice.

wookie- cool. this is superior drummer 2.0 they are real drums, recorded at avatar studios, and turned into samples, including a plethora of room mics, which is the only 'effect' i use on the drums

rimshot thanks for taking the time to review this one....
the vox, i'm still playing with some ideas and arrangements, you know, i listen to a lot of classic rock, and there are harmonies everywhere!
but for some reason, this particular harmony (or at least the way i've presented it) seems to bug people. i'll probably mix it out, or re-track the whole intro section, just to try another approach. now, you say the bass is punchy and clear, i've had others tell me it's 'soupy' or not clear.
so i'm kinda on the fence there too..... i'm glad it's translating on your playback system

Still listening been mixing quite a bit and want to have fresh ears when I listen. But a further question about the drums to do you think about listener perspective when deciding how the drums are panned?

wookie- no, i pan them as i would sitting at a kit.... but of course, what i end up is not natural after all.... i prefer to mix them from the drummer's perspective mostly, but there are times where i'll simply put a piece where it sounds best. seems that for the most part, kick and snare are always centered, so that is NOT really how a drummer hears it... with the snare sitting at his/her left side, and the hi hats beyond that... so i guess, in the long run, it doesn't even matter, since the long-running practice of panning kick and snare for rock mixes is kind of separate from real life perspective. i used to pan my overheads hard left and right, but have recently changed, and brought them in to 50% left and right. i'll pan the toms across the field from Left to Right from 50% to center to 50%, small toms to floor toms i have never met ANYONE....... ever.... who ever mentioned that the drums seemed panned from the wrong perspective, that wasn't a drummer. i don't believe most people could ever tell the difference. i suppose, to get on the proper bandwagon would mean to always pan from the audience's perspective. that way, you are the listener, as the mixer, and always sitting in the audience with the band projecting TOWARDS you. i mean, it's all so esoteric, isnt' it? sometimes, it sounds best from backstage. LOL

batsbrew wookie- i'll pan the toms across the field from Left to Right from 50% to center to 50%, small toms to floor toms >>> Me to as drums that start hard right (or left for the lefties amongst us) to hard left is just unreal.<<< i have never met ANYONE....... ever.... who ever mentioned that the drums seemed panned from the wrong perspective, that wasn't a drummer.

Nice work! Cool song, punchy mix, crunchy guitars, and great lead vocals. I really liked the solos too. For those harmonies in the first section, what got me was the timing - they could follow the lead line a lot closer IMHO, especially when it's falsetto. If you can work out the timing, I'd even consider adding a third harmony - I loves me vocal harmonies.

Another fine tune Bat. I was also distracted by the high vocal part in the first section. The phrasing could be tighter. Everything else sounds fantastic to me. Rocky

steveci think i'll re-track the entire opening section, for vocals.. i'll try it with just one lead vox, and then another version with full blown harmonies, and see which one sits the best. by the way, i can't sing falsetto. LOL ;) it's just my high voice.... which works sometimes, and not, other times.

bluzdog high harmony, check. i'll get to work very soon on retracking that vox.... hopefully, that will pull it together. i just can't decide, if i want to dig into it, like i did on this last version... or try to do it real soft and light... kinda like Plant does on the opening of 'ramble on' thanks for listening and reviewing

Not much I can add to this song, hard rock is not really my thing. I do agree with tightening up the vocal intro, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it perse. Good song, I liked it a lot. I wish I could play guitar like that.

Great rocking powerful sounding number. Ya, maybe the vocal timing was a wee bit off in the beginning but they don't detract from your powerful vocals once you get it cranked up! Nice one Bat!

rebelappreciate the critique, as far as re-tracking, i've got some ideas about just about everything at this point! LOL i try to walk away from projects after i have them finalized, but man, when you start thinking about all the 'what if's' it can go down a long back alleyway. LOL again... freddy Jglad you liked this one, freddy.... thanks for listening. i guess my idea of ' mournful, loose elocution ' is more like brain electrocution.

This sounds good. In terms of the vocal harmonies, I think the difficulty is that they don't completely line up, so the sibilances clash. Have you considered taking out some of the treble from the backing vocals and increasing the reverb, to push the backing vocals further back in the mix?

itsadequate thanks for commenting... you know, i DID try rolling the high end off... but in the end, i preferred the clarity to be there, and to allow it to be a bit off, which to me, is just more rock and roll than polish and spit. but.... that said, i'm still going to retrack the first part, and re-think the mix on the rest of the harmonies.... i might just end up adding more!! heheh
