Installing Komplete 9 over Komplete 7 on offline system?

Any tips for installing Komplete 9 over Komplete 7 on an offline system?

I know there is lots of new stuff and that the Kontakt 5 library is stored in a different format.

How about the redundant stuff? I usually like to leave the stuff that is already working... working.

Any thoughts?

I started with Komplete 5... and each time I update it seems like a lot thinking has to happen. :-)

    I know the feeling...that's why I always install to a new directory...that way..it's a lot easier to
"revert" if required.  After I'm comfortable...then I'll remove the old one....but not until.

That was one of my issues with the EZ2 upgrade...it "irradicated" EZ1....not kewl...

Fortunately it was ok...but not wise on Toontrack's part...

I just finished intalling K9 last evening. I didn't have any previous versions of Komplete, but did have earlier versions of Kontakt, Battery, Reaktor etc....

I just made a new folder (Komplete 9) in the same samples directory........I'm thinking I just have to direct Kontakt to the older libraries in order access the older sounds.

This weekend will be a busy one with all these goodies in my basket. :)

    I've started the process.

The first big question is: How do I know which VSTs are 32 bit only? If any?

    In other words, I have a x64 VST directory, C:\Program Files\Vstplugins|Native Instruments

a 32 bit directory for VSTs with a 64 bit option: C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins32|Native Instruments

and a directory for old VSTs that are only 32 bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins|Native Instruments

I guess I have to guess that every plug in on the Komplete discs has a 64 and 32 bit counterpart?

Native Instruments support says "Most NI plug-ins are compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit host sequencers."

It would be nice to know for sure. :-)

In the X3 browser, under the plugins "Tab" 32 Bit VST's are GREEN in color...the others are normal....
So that will tell you whether or not they are 32 bit or 64 bit.

    PS:  FEATURE REQUEST

This would be nice to have in the Track View and Inspector "Drop Down" Menus...
I think they identify if they are 32 bit...but the Color coded option would be
    nice also...

    That will be too late...

I'd love to know before I install them so I can install them where I want them.

I'm already installing... so we'll see how it goes.

"If an application or library is already installed on your computer (e.g the application KONTAKT 5, the  KONTAKT 5 Factory Library or a KONTAKT based library such as ABBEY ROAD 60s DRUMMER or VINTAGE ORGANS) it is not required to install it again with the KOMPLETE 9 installer. In case the KOMPLETE 9 installer detects an application version which is newer than the version provided in KOMPLETE 9, it will bring up a warning message and deselect those applications in the component tree. This is to avoid a downgrade for those applications. We recommend keeping all other components selected unless you have a specific reason to do otherwise."

I bought this box copy of Komplete a year ago. It's been sitting here and I finally decided there was something on it I want to use.

I am fairly sure that some of my N.I. apps are newer than what is on these install discs, but I have received no warnings or dialogs as the installer is installing. :-S

At the worst, when you run the Authorization Tool it will tell you there are updates available and you'll have to download and reinstall.

I keep copies of EVERYTHING I download so that I can "revisit" them easily if so required

    Yes, that's what I figured.

Good thing I started by making a disc image backup. Now, I'm calm and will just ride it out.

Now I need to remind myself how to run Service Center for an offline system. :-)

I think I just need it installed on the actual DAW and that generates a html file or something. In other words I think I remember that there is no need to install service center on my web crawler.

Wow, I was a little surprised to learn that I don't get to choose where the Battery 4 library installs. I'm glad I have an enormous C: drive. :-)

I was mistaken, the Battery 4 library loaded to the within the directory I assigned as the Komplete 9 library location so it ended up on my sample library drive where I wanted it. :-)
