What the heck is Kore Player?
I installed Komplete 9 today and was going through each N.I. free standing app to make sure everything works. I was reminded that I don't no what Kore Player is. I couldn't stumble my way through getting it to make any sounds with a MIDI controller. What does it do? Process audio? Thanks.

It's the player version of (the sadly discontinued) Kore 2.

It's kind of like a Sample Player When it opens you should have things on the left of the browser and things on the right...select Kore Player on the Left, then double click one the the selections on the right...and all should be good..

+1 I only have the free player version (never had the full product), but it is one of my favourite software instruments. I'm even willing to purchase some Kore Sounds as I do find it to be very useful/easy to work with. I know a lot of customers are disappointed with the discontinuation of this. I didn't realize it was included in Komplete 9 (until now).

I guess I'll have to watch some videos because I can't figure out what it is for. I checked my audio routing and my MIDI routing and they seem correct. I just don't know if it generates sound on it's own or if it's a virtual efx pedal that requires sound to be sent into it.

Mike, all you have to do is set it up as you would do any softsynth (MIDI out global), select a sound from the included library, and play your keyboard. That should work.....

Thanks Mesh! It seems to be working now. I closed it. I went and watched a video. I opened it again and it plays sound when I play a MIDI controller. I Don't quite know what I was doing wrong the first few times I tried. :-)

Kore 2 basically allowed you to layer and route instruments/FX. It contained the engines for all the NI instruments so they could sell a Kore Pack that, say, layered Kontakt with Absynth and then processed it with Guitar Rig. If you bought the HW controller, it basically had macro knobs and buttons. The Kore Player is for use with Kore Packs. If you owned Kore 2 and the underlying instruments you could edit the stuff and create your own routings. It also hosted 3rd party VST/VSTi's. It allows you to do pretty much anything in terms of routing - one of my own favorites takes a simple delay and lets me insert any VST's I want into the feedback loop.

I'm still intrigued as to why they included Kore (a discontinued product) in Komplete 9???

OK, I figured out what was wrong. I was simply selecting patches that were all coincidentally throwing a warning "This file was saved with a newer version of _____, Please update your software" And I was ignoring the warning because it didn't elaborate with something like "it ain't gonna play diddly til you do" I'm actually downloading all the updates and was testing stuff while thatw as happening. Maybe that will solve all the confusion. It seems hard to understand how I could load everything from a boxed set of discs this morning, and before updating anything, find out that the patches that come in the box were made with even newer software than comes in the box. It seems like the patches would be concurrent with the various app engines that came in the box. Guess not.

I'm guessing they didn't want to disappoint the Kore Sound Pack customers and added the player version. Larry, do you have the full version and does it work well in x64? If it's compatible, I'd like to by the full version of Kore 2 + some sound packs onKVR....

I think I'm in the minority but I always liked the 57 Drawbar Organ using KORE. I still have it but now use VB3.

I also wanted to get the whole shabang, but my couch had already been cleaned out....I figure we'll have to wait until Komplete 10 is released, and then (next summer) save up for th Ultimate Upgrade ya?

There's a 64bit version of Kore 2, but as you might expect it only hosts 64bit VST's. It works but it's an abandoned product, so the future is unclear. You can check the NI Kore forum for details/issues: http://www.native-instrum...forum/forums/kore.124/

I open Kore more than my DAW. Great way to have everything sort of standalone and really convenient ..... for me.
