Just been watching the Tour de France
I don't think the riders are taking it seriously enough this year!

Today's stage is brought to you by the letter "F" and the number 7. (I've actually been watching all of the stages and this is the wildest tour I've ever seen. Although my body could sure benefit from it, I'm glad I don't ride anymore!)

My American citizenship strictly forbids me to care about sports unless Americans have even a slight chance to win.

Ignoring the great American insult to the Tour who had seven doped-up wins, Greg LeMond won three Tours and two Americans are now among the top five with a chance to win this year (there are only nine Americans out of the 198 riders that started the race).

By the way, Lance's attempt to bv!!$#it the world after he was caught offended me more than the fact that he was doping in a sport that it seems that most of the top riders were.

I agree. I know people that were riders and the vast majority of the riders were doping. Since Lance was the most tested person on the planet and always came out clean, I defended him right to the end when details of how he avoided detection came out. Other top riders that got caught, apologized and went on with life I have no problem with. I even have a tenant that moved to Spain several years ago to ride on one of their teams, but quit when he was pretty much told he would have to dope to ride. I got the joke, but didn't know if you knew that the U.S. really do have a couple of the top GC contenders this year (which is wide open now that the defending champion, Chris Froome, had to abandon and Contador isn't doping any more). The two U.S. contenders are Tejay van Garderen and Andrew Talansky though both have lost time over the last two days due to crashes.

Honestly, I have been too busy this week to keep up. I also didn't like how Lance was willing to let so many of his teammates take the fall while he was in denial. when hincapie came forward everything lance said ticked me off more. He himself had previously vouched on what a standup guy Hincapie was and then tried to portray him as a liar. I understand not wanting to get caught but you would think a man would own up to it wher nthose he professed to care about started getting threatened with federal charges. I'm an American Football fan. We get over drug stuff quickly since they typically do their suspension come back and so what. It's grown men getting paid to play games. Pretending any of this is somehow sacred is silly. i think football fans seem more willing to accept that odds are good that many more used and did not get caught since testing was less sophisticated. There are very few names in any sport i would be absolutely floored by allegations they used some substance, legal or not.
