Shifting Tracks and Take Lanes

I don't have auto track zoom on either.

When I click on a track or take lane they (not always but often) jump all over the place.

It usually almost always happens when I go to delete a take lane by clicking on the x.

It not only does not delete the take lane which i clicked the x on but the track jumps and I find myself at another track. Often I will go on editing and find moments later I am editing on the wrong track. This happens a lot such that I have to almost always click twice, once click in a blank spot to activate the track/ take and once to delete the take.

I think this is a bug... :)

I can't say I've seen the TV shift like that when deleting Take Lanes.   The lanes within that track may shift, of course, but not to the extent that I'm seeing a different track altogether!

Yes for me it happens "a lot" the tracks shift when I am switching between master section and track section and the lanes shift. I will got to delete a take lane and it shifts and I will be then centered to an entirely different track and I will go back and the lane I deleted is still there usually then it will allow me to delete the lane(s).

Huh...  X3e?    I'm assuming when you refer to "master" that you mean the parent track and not the individual lanes?

When I refer to master i mean the bus section down below and I am using X3e installed over X2. It has been doing this for a while.
When I got to the bus section and go back to track view it usually happens.

Or when I work in pro channel and then go back to track view. Track view usually takes two clicks to activate. In the process of activating it jumps. I will try and figure out more I usually ignore it because i have things I am usually doing.

It does not happen every time, I am not sure what sets it off.

It almost always happens when deleting takes.

It shifts also when I minimize a take lane but not always.

Are you catching both mouse buttons inadvertently? Holding down the right mouse button while clicking the left will undo the last view change. LH button and click right will redo.

Catching both buttons by mistake would activate one or the other and may give the impression the view is jumping.

If you're using a control surface and have some of tracks hidden in the Console view, and have the "Console View" radio button under [Control Strips Visible in] checked in Edit > Preferences > MIDI > Control Surfaces, I'm afraid the issue you're seeing is an intended behavior.

For example, if you click Track 4 in the Track view when Track 4 is hidden in the Console view, the light-blue marker moves to one of tracks that are visible in the Console view according to the "Control Strips Visible in" setting in Preferences. I've just tested it and see exactly the same behavior you're seeing. As you say, if I click the Delete Take Lane button, it not only deletes the lane but also moves the track focus to Track 1 (I had the same issue before but in my case it was the opposite. I had some tracks hidden or packed in a collapsed folder and when I clicked those hidden tracks in the Console view, the light-blue focus would jump to a different track).

If you select "All Strips" under [Control Strips Visible in] in Preferences, you won't see it happen anymore.

Anyone who wants to see it happen can see it by following these steps:

    1. Create a new project.
    2. Insert 10 tracks.
    3. Go to Edit > Preferences > MIDI > Control Surfaces.
    4. If you don't have any of the following controller surfaces set up in the page, click the Add New Controller/Surface button in the upper right corner and choose one of them. You don't need to select anything from the Import/Output dropdowns.

    A) ACT MIDI Controller
    B) Edirol PCR-M30
    C) A-PRO
    D) Edirol PCR-300

    5. Check the "Console View" radio button under [Control Strips Visible in], click OK to exit Preferences.
    6. Open the Console view and hide, for example, Track 4 and Track 8.
    7. In the Track view, click any track other than Track 1, 4 and 8. Then click Track 4 or 8. You see the light-blue marker jump to Track 1. If you click Track 1 or 8 first and then click Track 4, the marker stays at Track 4. This is why you don't always see the marker jump.

    Tak T.
