Master Bus volume drop

Master Bus volume drop
My friend was doing some recording and mixing this morning on Sonar X3. He pushed some key combination and after that the master bus level (the green level in the fader area) dropped in half (faders/gain untouched) and the volume dropped. The only thing he thinks he saw was some snap to grid window but he closed it. So after checking hot keys and googling we found no answer. To fix it we built a new bus and sent all the tracks there and the volume was back to normal. He had a pro channel with limiter and compressor and their levels were still the same and turning them off made no volume difference to the master. I'm sure there's some explanation for this (key combo etc) but we couldn't find anything. It would be cool to know for future reference.

Are there any tiny "+" signs next to the volume and pan controls on all the tracks and buses?  If so, then your friend has unwittingly switched to Offset Mode.  Press the "O" key to toggle back to normal mode.
