Good news + Bad news = Good news wins

Well, today I tried to get the song I'm working on into decent shape and did lots of little fiddly editing jobs on various tracks.
The bad news: It crashed five times (mostly when I was adjusting plugin presets on the fly).
The good news: I remembered to save often, and got lots done and it sounds pretty good.

So, overall it was a good day anyway! Thought I'd share that. :)

They were all caused by Melodyne and EZMix2.

The Melodyne ones came when I was doing many finicky edits in a row, mostly time-shifting large groups of selected "blobs."

The EZMix2 ones came as I was trying to audition different guitar-sound presets by switching between them on the fly (without stopping the transport).

In both cases, I first got the spinning circle of doom and then the grey-out accompanied by the gloomy announcement that Sonar was not responding, and finally, the pop-up that informs you that Sonar is going to close, which it promptly did.

So, I rebooted my computer and got back to work. It was lucky I was having a good day with remembering to save often, and that my work was practically all recoverable.

I'm glad you ended up with a good day (we could all use more of those), and also figured out where your crashes were coming from.

Best of luck with your music!

Hey jude77 (see what I did there )

Thank you for the good wishes! I *think* I got that song all finished today. It's been in my head for many years, so thank goodness it's finally out! My next challenge is making a CD that sounds anywhere as nice as the song does when I listen to it in Sonar X3!

What are you up to now? Are you recording, or trying to mix, or in a dormant or planning phase?

    Curious,

    LJ:

Thanks for asking about my music, that was quite kind.  I stay in a kind of constant recording/mixing phase.

Why don't you post your music in the "songs" part of this forum?  The folks there are supportive and encouraging and will offer constructive input if you want it.

    Best,

    JC
