Cover of a Cream classic- Outside Women Blues
I saw a documentary on Ginger Baker a few days ago, and also watched a video of the 2005 Albert Hall reunion concert. Inspired me to do a cover of one of my favorite songs by Cream, "Outside Women Blues" Hope you enjoy it, I had a lot of fun doing it. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12863077 BTW: It's a little rough, I kinda rushed through it, I guess kinda like Robert Stigwood rushed Cream through all their recordings, heh....

I used to really love Cream. That was back in the day when I was first getting started in some garage and basement bands.

Good job. I would trash up the guitars a little. They seem a tad too clean for this song IMO. Drums are good. Bass might want to be re-amped through a live amp and miced.
Nice lead tone and playing.

Yeah, I agree it needs to be dirtier, but still also it's pretty good :-) Outside of a woman blues? I'm usually blue too. Always less blue inside a woman...

Thanks Herb, Clapton was one of my first guitar heroes. (and still is)
Rimshot and Robby, thanks for the kind words and the suggestions. It's funny, I was worried the right side guitar (my LP through my Fender Hot Rod DeVille amp) was a little too dirty. Guess not, LOL. The left side is my Strat through Amplitube, guess I need to use another preset, heh.
And Robby? Even at my advanced age I agree with your philosophy about outside and inside women :)

I'm not familiar with the original, but I like this.  Good performances all around and well mixed IMHO. I actually like the mix of guitar tones as-is. Nice solo.

jude77-Thanks a lot. What I meant was just about everything is a first take (solo and vocals were redone). Apparently Robert Stigwood was so tight with money that he rushed Cream through their recording sessions so he wouldn't have to pay for the extra studio time. Imagine what those records could have sounded like had they been allowed to do take a little more time on them.

You could dirty up the guitars as suggested but I think I like them as they are. Adds a nice contrast when the solo comes in. Nicely balanced and a lot of fun.

That was a good doc if you are talking about "Beware of Mr. Baker." Good version of the song. I had never really listened to the lyrics - they are a hoot. "Buy me a bulldog to watch my woman while I sleep." Damn near perfect blues. I would have liked the guitars dirtier, too. But maybe that is just the dust I've always heard in the grooves of the vinyl. Anyway, hoot of a song.

This is a great song by a great band. You did it proud. You don't have to be Jack Bruce to get this story across. I like the guitars the way they are, and it all blends together very well. Kudos
