Importing Addictive Drums Drum Maps in Sonar X3's Drum Map Manager

Does anyone know how to import your Addictive Drums 2 drum maps into Sonar X3's Drum Map Manager so that they're available for viewing in the piano roll view? I see choices for lots of manufacturers, but nothing for AD2 or the original AD.  Thanks.

There is no import process for Drum Map presets. Drum maps may be created in the Drum Map Manager and saved for future use as a preset.

I was looking for information on this today as well. It looks like there is quite a process to get it to work like that. >_<

It is not that bad. Just a typing exercise. I have not seen AD2 but expect loading the Drum Map Manager with the default or one of the GM maps and modifying it would save some typing.

The fact that Addictive Drums is included with Sonar, but there are no maps for it (yet there are maps included in Sonar's Drum Map Manager for almost every manufacturer out there) is a major oversight on both their parts.

I have a sequencer pattern that I load (happy to share if you send my a PM) to use the drum map...that's the only place that I care. I have put a bunch of maps into my MPD18 as well to record various kits. Don't understand why you care about the drum maps function in SONAR?

I do agree, however, that it is a substantial gap that they bundle such a powerful and widely used plug-in without a full set of maps.

Shmuelyosef,

For me, drum maps are essential to being able to EASILY edit my drum midi.  It is SO much better organized/modifyable to gets your individual instruments properly grouped as they are in a midi drum track rather than scattered about, in the order of a keyboard, and separated by other unused notes.  If you happen to want to split a midi drum track to hardware and various plugins (hardware snare, software cymbals, for example), drum maps make it easy to do.  Also, since drums are percussive and the note length is irrelevant, the notes are more logically displayed to me in the drum map view.  The velocity display is also more sensible in this view than the controller info at the bottom of the pane is for drums (though I think you can turn this part on in a regular midi grid).

Since I always use the vdrums to input my drums and I typically send that back out to the vdrums brain for hearing the sound and usually mixing it in as audio, everything is just automatically setup with my default/custom drum map.

Anyone who doesn't understand some of the benefits of drum maps, please check out the video on my website about the topic.  Maybe they do more for you than you originally thought or explored.

@ Shmuelyosef,
Blades just gave you an answer as to why it is important to have proper drum maps and why AD and Cakewalk should have implemented drum maps for AD2 in Sonar. AD just wrote to me acknowledging they should have been included. Now I'm waiting to see if they have a more feasible solution other than me having to create my own from scratch in Sonar.

I agree.  I think either XLN or Cakewalk should have provided the AD2 drum map as the default track setup when you insert an AD synth into your project.  I downloaded a map called "Addictive Drums By Subjacent.map" and thought I could drag an AD2 clip into it.  When I do that, the track doesn't play at all.  I can only get the AD2 clips to play in a standard Midi track with no Drum map. It works, but then I'm just using the Piano Roll View,  not nearly as good as a drum map view for editing drum patterns.
