Home Studio Microphone?

I purchased a Blue Spark digital usb microphone for some home recording projects.  I am not positive it's the right mic for me.  I've looked at the Blue Yeti Pro, the akg c214 (then I need to go with preamp etc).   I am using this for Book Narrating. Ideally, I'd like to stay under 300.  And then I'll tackle the home recording/editing challenge!  Done plenty in the studio with an engineer, just thought I could lay it down at home. I also do some "voices", though my natural reading voice is mid range w/ some hi-lo quality (female) with just a bit of a rasp.  
Any Thoughts?

    The C214 is an excellent microphone and a great value if you're not ready to jump up to the $1K level.
     
    However, for spoken voice I think you'd do better with a dynamic. An RE-20 or SM-7 would be good choices. Or even the good ol' SM58, which is well within your budget. 


    All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Go to a local music store and try out some. Maybe an Audix dynamic mic or a condenser of some manufacturer (but usually those are 48V and need a pre-amp perhaps if not 48V on the audio/interface). Many makes of mics and just try them out there.
