Sounds more like you're being dragged along on someone else's idea of a vacation there Herb!
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

I've got the opposite vacation plans figured, Herb. I'm going from Texas to Minnesota. Can't wait to get out of this heat.

My deepest sympathies - Orlando would be an absolute nightmare for me as well.

Florida would be last on my list for a summer vacation destination, as would anywhere with humid weather. I can't understand why anyone would willingly seek out humidity. New York is bad enough.

My daughters ...the oldest one actually, requested it as a college graduation present.... So.... I'm thinking...... lay at the pool, avoid the parks.... the kids are all 20+ now so they can go on their own and have fun.... she & her husband are driving their car so I don't have to play cab driver...... me and "momma" are planning one day at Universal to satisfy the kids mostly and catch a few rollercoaster rides..... but that will be the extent of the crowded parks.... I can hang with one day.... One year.... we stayed there for 2 weeks. The girls were much younger.... got the 5 day park passes and took the girls to all the parks. Visit with some friends we have down there within an hour's ride.....relax..... lay at the pool.... do much of nothing...... shopping of course will be on the ladies' agenda..... like I said, lay at the pool, nap, relax, let them shop.... act excited when they show me all the stuff they bought.... RAIN: The good thing about that place..... at least the part called Disney downtown..... no admission to that area.....lots of free live entertainment on the street, and they have a Cirque there. Last time we caught the show and enjoyed it immensely. LA NOUBA was the show at that time.

My wife had to live there for a month in 2010 when they were rehearsing for the show. She hated it, so it's not likely that I'll ever have to go. If I could never leave this house I'd be happy, but when I have to, I usually prefer things like the San Diego zoo or the Da Vinci museum. Though an occasional musical can be nice. My own idea of a vacation theses days would be a two weeks trip, all the way to Memphis, then Nashville, then down to New Orleans and then back through Texas and New Mexico and back home, up through Arizona. If I had to leave home, that's what I would go for.

Rain ... and then back through Texas and New Mexico and back home, up through Arizona.
On a trip that long, I'd find a way to divert to I-70 from Denver West. Yeah that means a whole lot of not much going through Kansas or Oklahoma. Of course, there's a whole lot of not much going through Texas. I am admittedly biased, but imho, the 270 miles from Denver to Salt Lake is one of the best drives in the lower 48.
