Same thing happened last week on the west coast of Florida.  Seems to happen at beaches a lot.
This is an interesting map.  At 3 in the afternoon in Florida we are covered with yellow and red.

The people sitting comfortably in the office have given me flack at times for refusing to go up a pole when lightning is flying around. I don't care. Lightning is nasty business.
I love watching it, but I really don't care to participate in it's activities.

    Shocking indeed.
If I'm not mistaken (and I could be) it takes 50,000 volts to jump across an inch of open air. A typical lightning strike spans about a mile. I really wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that.

I've been very close more than once.  Including being near enough to have the hair on my arms stand up as well as being blinded and unable to hear for a few minutes.

Of course, I think Bapu's referring to Beyonce stopping by there (otherwise he would have said "lightning" roight?).

In Sarasota the other day, a Cessna crash landed on the beach and killed a man and seriously injured his daughter.

I used to worry about sharknados, now I worry about lightning and planes....sheesh.

That is sad. Unimaginable odds of being run over by a plane while walking on the beach.
It just reminds you that anything can happen at any time, so we need to appreciate every moment that we have.
