Upgrade to X3 Pro

Hi,
I currently own Sonar 4 Producer. It was installed on my old music PC which after 9 years recently gave up the ghost.
Right now I'm waiting for my new music PC to be delivered so I'm was thinking upgrading Sonar might be nice.
Am I correct that right now I can upgrade to X3 Producer for £79? This seems like a great deal...is it a time limited deal?

Also (and sorry if this sounds like a dumb question) can I download the upgrade now, then transfer it by a remote drive onto my new music PC when it arrives next week?

Yes, according to http://www.store.cakewalk.com/b2cgbp/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=10-CXSP3.00-30E the current promo price for upgrading from any version of SONAR Producer older than X2 is £79.50. Not sure how long the price will remain at this level. After purchasing you may download at any time and transfer the installers to the new machine. Addictive Drums is the exception, it is an online install direct from XLN so the new machine will have to connect to the internet to get it.

In addition to the installers download the latest update here http://www.cakewalk.com/S...13361/SONAR-X3e-Update

Okay cheers, I'd better snap it up now then - too good to miss at £79.50
Is that a 50% discount of the normal upgrade price?

I could not find the original UK price for the upgrade. The current US price for the upgrade is $99.50, it was originally $199.

Considering that it's an upgrade from a 10 year old version it's an extra ordinary price. For those that have upgraded every year they would have paid between $1500 and $2000. Quite a bargain you've got for yourself.

Yeah but they would have also had the pleasure of shiny new versions of Sonar during that time.

That is one benefit of regularly upgrading - the changes can be handled in smaller chunks.

I would. There is no reason to keep X3 Studio installed. When removing versions of SONAR, it is best to remove versions before installing new ones.

Scook, Thank you. I thought maybe the installer of X3 Pro would check if you have a previous version like other installers

Each version of SONAR installs in a separate directory so there is no reason for the installer to check for other versions. Many prefer to keep older versions of SONAR installed for a variety of reasons. There is no reason for keeping the X3 or X3 Studio installed if upgrading to X3 Producer.

That is indeed a FABULOUS price to upgrade.

Other than you having a learning curve that might last a few weeks, you should be VERY happy with all kinds of functional changes since Sonar 4.

X3e has been very well received, and is quite stable.

There are lots of good free videos, as well as some good ones for purchase, and there are also well-written books that help explain a lot of the new functionality.

Fantastic to see someone coming from so far back to X3e.  You will have a blast.

Welcome to the new millennium! I think X3 is the best version yet -- in fact, I've been wondering how Cakewalk is going to try to convince me that I absolutely must upgrade to X4. Everything is different, though: workflow, plugins, interface. With a new computer, and once you get used to it, you should be having a darned good time soon. I think you'll be REALLY please with X3.  The learning curve may feel straight up at first, but stay with it.  You will be rewarded!!

"Upgrade to X3Producer" I puchased Late Sept 2013.
But Melodyne Essentials and Addictive Drums 2 makes it a real bargain.

These may or may not be part of the X4 upgrade.
Coming up on that date for X4.  Of course I don't know new date.
$75 US is 1/2 price I paid which was bargain.

    I upgraded from Sonar 7 to X3.
Bit of a learning curve... but not as bad as thought it might have been.
