I've actually never gotten around to trying any of their synths (not that I need anymore).  Still a little voice inside me says, try them....

I've got quite a few and use them a lot - great products if a little funky sometimes - the Oberheim V is one of my favorites and go to soft synths (mainly because I cant afford a real one anymore !)

I've been eyeballing a KeyLab 88 because it comes with their "collection". I've got a lot, but still want theirs! LOL
Their stuff always seems to catch my ear.....
Thanks for the heads up on their sale.....maybe I can jump on that.

Re: Arturia 15 Year Anniversary Sale 2014/07/31 21:42:50 (permalink)
I bought the V Collection in January, (might have been December), in a different sale.

    WOW!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely FABULOUS sounds, and 64-bit versions of the dll's.

Please do note that for some reason several of the stand-alone synths in the collection seem to only run 32-bit mode, or at least their program location is in the Program Files (x86) folder, but all of the actual plugin dll versions are indeed both 32-bit and 64-bit, so it isn't a problem.

The other thing I would mention is that 2 or 3 of the VST3 versions do not load into Sonar X3e, but apparently do up until X3c, if memory serves.

The 2 companies are aware of this, and one or both are working on something to address the issue.

The simple workarounds are to either use X3c (not my recommendation, but it is an option), or to remove the VST 3 versions that don't load in X3e, so Sonar just loads their VST 2 versions.

The sounds are just fine with the VST 2 versions, and once they fix the issue, you can load the VST 3 versions back in and keep on jamming.

The Moog Modular V is simply incredible, and all of them sound great.

Excellent range of synths, I got the V collection for 99 Euros in a previous sale. In this sale it's 199 Euros but still a very good deal.

The Modular V is outstanding but I prefer Minimonsta to Mini V.

As mentioned the VST3 versions don't work well in X3 but the VST2 versions work fine.

Yes - Good option if you just getting one.  If you really want to create patches rather than just tweak the Modular V and to a lesser extent arp2600V are the best options.

I was going back and forth on this, but then I made a list of all the big synths I have

    Diva
    Zebra
    Omnisphere
    Lush
    Komplete 5
    Predator
    Blade
    Synthsquad
    Z3ta
    Rayblaster
    Nexus 2

Plus of course a bunch of other ones like the includes Sonar ones.  I think I need to come the the conclusion that I really have everything I need to make a good song.

Also, maybe that I need to quit coming to this forum.

All that being said, this sure is tempting, that's a great price, really I would be a fool NOT to take it...   Well I have a month to think on it.

worse I just found out I got a big promotion at work.  But that promotion also might mean I have less time for music.

I know, let's buy a bunch of cool gear that I never use. That seems like a good idea...

Welp...it will be Sunday or Monday before I get to play with it...but getting it registered and activated was no walk in the park...unless you are used to Arturia's process. But got it done and working just before leaving the studio. Will post more as I know it.

I downloaded some of the demo's and I must admit that they sound decent, especially the moog modular.  Well, I've got a month to decide, in the mean time, I can keep working on syntorial, so maybe I can actually do something with them besides preset search with minor tweaking

    Kroneborge,

FYI, if you shop at audiodeluxe they offer a $25 dollar gift card with the purchase of the v-collection. If you decide to purchase, you can get $25 free if you go through them.

I'm actually in the same boat as you. I'm working on syntorial (which I am really enjoying) and contemplating the v-collection. For some reason, I feel I want more analog sounding synths even though I suck at programming them... Guitar player... I do feel I'm getting better though. Just programmed my first pad that I didn't think was horrible.

Currently, I'm conflicted between the v-collection and u-he diva. I keep seeing rave reviews for diva. I was wondering how you felt the arturia synths compared. I noticed from a prior post that you have diva. I'd like to demo everything but, I won't have the time this month to go through all of the arturia synths. Diva seems extremely versatile with all of the different components that can be selected. Any insight you can provide? I don't care about cpu load issue. I don't usually use many synth instances in my songs.

Also, for anybody that already has the v-collection, which do you feel is the standout synth? I may be able to demo one or two before the sale expires. Would analog lab be a good indicator of the range of possible sounds?

Analog Laboratory is a very good value. Easy peasy to tweak...even with its limitations and the sounds are uniformly good. Plus the "scene" setup is great for live performance and recording. However some...but so far just a few...of the patches have the hung note syndrome others have mentioned. Still, thumbs up.

Re: Arturia 15 Year Anniversary Sale 2014/08/06 12:34:42 (permalink)
Well, first I will say that Diva sounds REALLY good no doubt.  And Diva does have several different modes, so it can approximate several different types of synths, or you can mix and match.  That's one of the reasons I'm struggling on whether I really NEED the Arturia collection.  Although the Arturia collection does sound good and comes with a ton of sounds.

Also, if you just want to learn one synth really well, Diva is probably a bit easier than all the different Arturia versions.

So I would probably give Diva the edge, but if you just want more sounds, I would get Arturia.

    Hope that helps.

I hate their copy protection scheme - had all sorts of issues with demos last year. That being said, I'm totally addicted to their MiniMoog, which they gave away on music day back in 2012 IIRC.

It may be worth buying the new official version, just to make sure that I can continue using it no matter the OS upgrades and computer changes.

I'm on the fence on this one.  A number of synths look great and I'm trying some of the demos.

However, I've seen lots of stories online about trouble with the e-licenser and the lack of quality customer support.  So, I'm not sure whether to bite or not.

I have the same dilemma when Waves has crazy sales.  So far, I've resisted.
