X1 PRV Oddity

In X1 I have 2 linked MIDI tracks open in the PRV.
 
The point of linking tracks is so you can edit a note on one and have it auto-edited on the others.
 
So if I select a note on only one of the linked tracks and drag the Velocity up or down, the same note on the linked tracks are affected, as they should be... and the surrounding notes are unaffected, as you would expect.
 
But if I lasso select a note, which selects the note on all the linked tracks, and drag the Velocity up or down with the mouse, the corresponding notes are affected, as they should be... However, the surrounding notes nearest the selected ones disappear.
 
I would think even though there is no need to lasso select linked notes, surrounding notes should not disappear or be affected in any way for any reason if they are not selected. Or is there a reason for this?
