Inexpensive cell phone for a senior?

I may need to get my Mom a cell phone while she's in a rehab facility (their rooms have no phones for some reason!).  Since she doesn't even use the "Guide" button on her TV remote, it has to be pretty simple to use.  Needless to say, being a phone is ALL it needs to be (and, I would hope, make it far less expensive than the usual phone and phone plan).

Does anyone have one they could recommend or give me a direction to look into?

TIA!

Thanks for the replies.  Both still look too complicated, but the Doro's claim to be able to hide some of the functions however I can't seem to get their website to show more than just the one model of cell phone...

Hey Craig - they're swedish - looks like a lot of their business is Europe and therefore GSM - amazon sells several unlocked GSM models, http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_n_23?rh=n%3A2407749011%2Ck%3Adoro&keywords=doro&ie=UTF8&qid=1407770026&rnid=2941120011
however Consumer CELLULAR/ AT&T would limit you to just the single clamshell style in the US  from what I can  see.

Looks like we're going to go with a temporary landline - but thanks for the info!

Landline probably makes sense in this case.

Yep.  I brought her an old phone too (the kind with a cord - lol) so she won't be able to put it somewhere and forget where it is.  She's usually pretty on the ball, but not when she's on antibiotics so I want to keep it simple.  Plus the landline was about $27 per month while all of the cell phone options would have been far more for the amount of calls she's going to be making!

We've faced the difficulty of finding a good senior-phone, too. It's surprising how poorly designed so many of the so-called senior phones are. The designers clearly don't realise how small details can distract a senior user, especially when some failing of memory and/or hand motorics come to picture. The best this far we've found is Doro.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

I really was expecting something as simple as having a talk/hangup button along with ten large and easy to hit numbers.  That's it.  No texting, no pictures, no other commands.  Oh well.

Exactly. I simply can't understand there are no such on the market. The good old landline phone seems to be the only option :o/
