I've found an old monitor in the garage

Which I'd like to use as a 2nd monitor for my DAW. It's a Samsung_Syncmaster P2370HD, but it's missing the base & stand. I tried looking for these parts online, and boy are they tough parts to find (usually not in stock). The monitor seems to have good specs on it and I have a free DVI input on my video card (the other one in use is HDMI).

If you guys know of any good websites that carry parts...... base + stand (seems to be sold seperately....as well as the screw sold seperately), pleast post a link.

TIA!!

I need another roll of duct tape. I just viewed a monitor lizard on my monitor and accidentally ripped another hole in the fabric of space & time. It's not a big deal. None of my becan fell through, so it's okay. Granted, the T-Rex stormtroopers on the other side look a little intimidating, but I don't think they've seen us yet.

Mesh - most flatscreen monitors should have VESA Display Mounting Standard available on the back of it.

if that one has VESA DMS, it should be able to use these:

Does it have a vesa mount?

Maybe you can just go that route and mount it to something.

Yeah, but if I'm only one minute late for something, that's like an hour or so early by my standards.

Prop it up on a box or a sandbag. Probably too heavy to duct tape to the wall.

You know, I'm really not sure.....(I wasn't even aware of VESA DMS). I'll definitely check this once I get home......however, I found this pic online. From the little search I did, the replacement stand/base looks like the one below.

mesh - in your picture, there are 4 holes in the back of the case with "SAMSUNG" in the middle of those 4 holes.

those 4 holes are the VESA standard mount.  any VESA standard mount will attach there.

Excellent!!
So something like this should work? http://www.amazon.com/MonMount-Single-Monitor-VESA-Stand/dp/B00801CRIO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-1&keywords=VESA+single+desk+base

yes, that should work.

notice the stand you linked to has 8 mounting holes.  the VESA standard for larger TV's uses the larger spaced 4 holes and the VESA standard for smaller TV's and computer monitors use the smaller spaced 4 holes.

FYI, drilling holes in a lizard is frowned upon in some communities. You need permits for that sort of thing.

FYI, grilling lizards with becan should be first drowned in becan fat for full community support. You'll never need any permits for that sort of thing.

According to the specs here: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200910/20091023093805125/BN59-00910G-00Eng.pdf

the monitor has 75 mm x 75 mm spaced mounting screws which would make it a VESA MIS-D, 75, C mount.

But a box is cheaper.

Is that (VESA MIS-D, 75, C mount) for a wall mount?

I looked through the manual as well, but didn't see where it said anything about MIS-D, 75, C, Mount......I only saw this: "P2370HD: This product complies with 75 mm x 75 mm (2.95 x 2.95 inches) VESA specifications."

I'm just curious on how you got to that specific part? (no offense meant.....I do highly respect your knowledge in all of these things :)).......I also could've easily missed seeing it as well.

Not a part, a specification for a multitude of parts all of which will attach to that standard. Most of the time the mount will be described as a 75 mm VESA.

Well, I opened the box last evening thinking it's a Samsung Syncmaster inside, but it's actually a 19" Vizio VA19LHDTV10T.......(the Samsung has better resolution and the box said 23" screen) .....I can't really complain as it was given to me for free .

At least it's good to know that a VESA mount will work with this........I'll still use it as a 2nd monitor for X3.

Now, I need to shop for a good price on the mount......
