My box says MK III.V. I can't remember which MF sale I got it on...It was probably the Oct. 2013 sale.

Cakewalk, Harrison Mixbus 4, Waveform 9, ADK intel i7 2600 3.40 ghz, 8gb Ram, Win 7, Presonus Audiobox 44VSL.

Clint,

There was another time that Mark III.V was on sale for
$79.99 I believe...

The product has been on sale so many times at MF it's ridiculous..but
I know when I got mine...I placed my order on June 12th of this year.

Mark III with a free upgrade to III.V

Grem, the code was ON THE SHRINK WRAP of the box...I still have mine saved from off the box...
I never even registered III...I just registered the code that was on the Shrink wrap.

Larry, you ain't gonna believe this:

After reading your post, I went look upstairs in my "studio" dug in the garbage and there was the shrink wrap! But it had no sticker with a code on it. It did have a orange sticker that says "NEW! RTAS Compatible!" with two quotes, one from EQ mag, and the other from a Guitar Player mag. I mean I can take the shrink wrap and fit it around the box and see that it's all there.

When I put the shrink wrap on I remember using my knife to slit it at the bottom and then just pulled it off. And I know it sounds funny, but I keep stickers off of the shrink wrap of items I buy. And I don't remember a sticker of any importance on the package.

So I can honestly say I never got what was coming to me!!

I contacted MF and they contacted PV and PV told them for me to get ahold of them through Revalver support. I have a ticket in now. Just waiting to see what PV has to say.

Thanks for the help Larry. Kinda wanting the upgrade after what ya'll were saying about it.

[edit]
I have registered Revalver 3 and have a PV account. That's what I thought I had to do to get the free upgrade.

Somewhere along the lines of work and home I forgot about looking into the upgrade.

Grem,

Don't know when  you made the purchase, but if it wasn't this past June
then it wasn't the III with free uprade to III.V.  That didn't happen, AFAIK,
until this past June.  All the other sales were either III or III.V, but none
with the free upgrade before June.

But, if Peavey is SMART they will give you III.V and let you upgrade to IV
or just let you upgrade to IV for $49.99.  Either way, they're making money!

So, here's to hoping they do the RIGHT (SMART) thing!

On my MF account/order history, it clearly states MkIII with free upgrade code to MKIII.V

Hoping it works out for you Grem and I have a good feeling about it that it will.  Just out of curiosity did you check your peavey account or the downloads page, after registering III, to see if there was any price change to the 4 upgrade?

Yeah. That's why I posted here, because I couldn't find the price ya'll were getting it for! Then reading your post I realized I needed Mk III.V to qualify.

Just checked my account again and still $99 price shows up.

THAT is a VERY GOOD THING!  You're good to go!  They have to honor it!
Even if you just failed to register and threw the cellophane away they should still
honor that...as there was no "ON THE BOX" designation...so yes, here's to hoping!

I've been playing with Revalver 4 and it has very little system resource usage compared to Guitar Rig 5.  You should check that out.

I also brought in 3rd party VST's today and have been building custom presets.  Very cool.

Rim,

Yeah, the ability to use 3rd party VST's is quite handy...especially in stand alone...

I've heard mixed opinions on the sound.
How are the "crunch" to "heavy crunch" sounds?
How is response to playing dynamics and rolling off guitar volume?

As always, it still has the "digital edge"...but, it's still software so that's to be expected...

But, to me, it sounds like a Mic in front of an amp.  It seems to respond well to playing dynamics...
I have all of the amp sims except S-Gear..because he RARELY, if EVER has a sale...

To me, it's quite realistic (for a piece of software) but that is my "subjective opinion" and,
having only played with it a few hours...there's much yet to learn about it.

Had thrown out the box for the MF no brainer and sent a request to support for the free upgrade that seems to have been on the shrink wrap.

Got an email back from Jose at support asking for proof of purchase to get the upgrade to III.V.

Sent the PayPal receipt from MF per request. Srangely, they can't connect you with an account and your serial number, which was required in order to register and authorize to begin with.

Will let you all know how this comes down. Quick response so far.

Bingo......that there is the true test and what I am interested in as well. I will be curious to know what people think about those qualities once they really give this a work out.

Re: Revalver 4 2014/08/22 22:01:02 (permalink)
Mike,

Cardinal question...

From the perspective of III.V, the fuzz is generic marginal as good as most synthetic digital attempts get, if you don't need subtle gradients of something like Scuffham or HeadCase. Revalver delivers generic impressive fuzz if you need balls to the wall volume with no dynamics. Nice program.

Where the program falls apart is in the ability to breathe increments of overdrive.

Back off on the input and it reduces the fuzz, but just a recessed mix of dry and the hard wall square wave. As much as I can hear.

Friends,

Had to edit out my soapbox against activation. Jose emailed on the weekend that he was fixing the problem, so sorry about getting unhinged at Peavey. Don't know if I'll actually upgrade to 4 yet, but would be nice to have ver III.V.

Anyone who purchased ver III thru MF can easily go into your account there and click on the details of the purchase, which does say free upgrade to III.V if the upgrade was offered during the specific sale.

Hope this helps,

Well I let Jose know I still have the box and shrink wrap! I also sent a copy of the receipt that I recently got from MF (that says nothing about the free upgrade) and sent in a screenshot of my MF account that shows very clearly, "With Free Upgrade Code To Mk III.V". Both have the same order number, item number also.

Waiting to see what happens.
