X3e - New HHD / Audio Drop-outs when bouncing tracks

I've used The same Laptop to record with for several years. At times I've used Audible bounce (even when using Ozone 5) without error.
DPC Latency Checker for Windows 7 x64 reports 500 range
Audio Drop-outs In (almost) the same locations  when Realtime Playback, bouncing tracks and exporting audio.
Reducing the number of real-time tracks (by Archiving them) also does not help)

This HDD configuration worked.
SONAR X3e 48/24bit + firewire MOTU Ultralite
Internal Segate Momentus 500 GB C:\ Windows 7 x64 | SONAR X3e | Picture Cache | VST
Internal Segate Momentus 750 GB D:\ Audio Data | Project Files | Samples

I'm thinking it's a Hard drive issue.
The new installed Hard Drives
HGST Travelstar H2IK10003272SP(0S03563) 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s C:\ Windows 7 x64
Seagate Hybrid Drives ST1000LM014 1TB MLC/8GB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s NCQ 2.5" Laptop SSHD D:\ Audio
Try increasing your Cakewalk software's hard disk buffer settings
256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096,
... I'm still thinking it's a Hard drive issue.

Make sure it's running in DMA mode.

    It's the Hard drive.
    5400 RPM Seagate Hybrid Drives ST1000LM014 1TB MLC/8GB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s NCQ 2.5" Laptop SSHD
Under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, for each item that has the word Channel as part of its label, right-click the item, and then click Properties.
That is not an (visible) option.

    5400?
That might be it. I'd not want to use anything less than 7200.

DMA setting are usually in the HDD controller options in Device Manager ... not the hard drive options.

I just read about those hybrid drives - they treat things like samples and such as long-loading, and seem to always place those data on the rotating disc (non-ssd), and not the SSD.

Here is a snippet of text from the Seagate site:

    "Adaptive Memory Technology

When Seagate introduced SSHD technology, the company created a set of advanced algorithms to track data usage and prioritize frequently used data for storage in the fast, solid state portion of the device. These algorithms, which form the basis of Adaptive Memory technology, were designed to change data priorities as different applications requested new data over time.

Implemented inside of the Seagate SSHD via firmware, Adaptive Memory technology is also referred to as self-learning technology. This is because the SSHD makes intelligent determinations about which data to store in NAND flash memory, without any influence from the host or related storage device drivers. Adaptive Memory technology works by identifying data elements that are important for enhanced host-level performance andpromoting such data elements from HDD storage to NAND flash memory.

Because it works entirely within the drive, Adaptive Memory technology has first-hand knowledge of the data elements that are best handled by solid state memory versus traditional HDD storage, and can promote data to NAND flash memory based on this knowledge. For example, data elements associated with booting, restarting and hibernating a computer, in addition to other frequently requested data, are prioritized for storage in solid state memory. However, data elements associated with long, sequential data strings, such as in video or audio data files, do not benefit from being stored in NAND flash."

    Thanks for the info.
I wonder if the 1TB is just too big even at 7200RPM?
500 and 750 GB seem to work just fine.
    I was surprised the HGST Travelstar 1TB 7200 RPM C:\ + Segate Momentus 750 GB 7200 RPM D:\
combo did not work, so i just put my old drives back and everything works as expected.

I have multiple 2 TB drives on my primary system - 3 of them, actually, plus 2 more 2 TB external drives for backups.

There is no issue there that I am aware of.

That's great your multiple 2TB drives are working, how 'bout listing the Drive brand and stats?
