I bit on the Mixbus sale but have found it not to be practical to actually use. I'm going to make myself actually use it one of these days

It can be tedious...but is in many circumstances, with the right material, very much worth it. It's sonic characteristic is quite wonderful in the right application.

I'm aching to get a good quality singer recorded in mixbus. Maybe I will do my tracking for Christmas album my son and i are putting together. I love the sound. I just hate the workflow

I think that's a great idea...to do the audio in MB for the Xmas Project I do not celebrate the Invictus Sol...but, to each his own...and it's a great sounding DAW. THE SOUND! Fortunately, MB 3 is supposed be 64 bit and offer VSTi support...that will be a welcome improvement. As long as it's not at the expense of the sound. Man, I love the way MB makes things sound. And THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!!! Here's to hoping that MB3 only adds to the functionality of an already great sounding audio engine. Whatever they're doing, they are doing it right. I can most assuredly say that...I can certainly hear the difference. I'm awaiting patiently MB3....also Mixcraft 7. These are some seriously underrated DAW's....

Agreed with Larry about MB's sound. Everything seems to gel together and sound like a cohesive piece when I use Mixbus for "summing" stems exported from another DAW. I use it even though it crashes a lot on my finicky system. The sound is worth it to me. As for the plugins, I bit on the track EQ when it was nine bucks or something -- it's nice even if strangely CPU-intensive -- but unless Harrison gives us a way to demo them I don't think I'll be accumulating more anytime soon, even at half price. Too many good alternatives are working well for me already -- but if anyone has a particular favorite that they'd like to gush about, I'm all ears. Cheers, Eddie

I'm not a big Christmas guy either, but I take any opportunity to collaborate with my son and the family likes it.

I'm seriously considering getting the XT-ME Mastering EQ . the only thing stopping me is I'm getting hit from every possible direction ..vet bills , 6 months up front car insurance , re reg both my cars…and the up coming Sept bills….. I have the MC- XT Multi-Band Compressor ….it is excellent . I have the Plug-in Essentials Bundle …I love the reverb . it's a go to verb for me … i need to spend a little more time with the triple delay , it is totally different than any delay I have ever used hardware or software ... I have yet to meet a delay that can do what the triple delay can do ….I'm sort of in uncharted territory w that plug .. last but not least , I have the XT- EQ Equalizer …it is very good ..I got it because that was all I could afford the last time I bought a plug from Harrison ... I dunno …..I'm not on the fence as far as my personal experience goes … I treat the Harrison Mixbus like its one big plugin that I can mix my SONAR projects in … Sonically ….It's One Hand Washes The Other Kenny

Maybe I should try the omf plugin. I do think that sort of thing should be built-in but hard to complain too much since I got mixbus so cheaply.

Personally, outside of IK affiliation/bias, I can most definitively say I am a fan of Mixbus and I don't think I've made a secret of that anywhere. I agree with the comments about the sound, and I must say that the workflow for a fogey used to consoles (my education/training was during a great period of overlap between great analog recording and the growth of digital recording - I lucked out in the same way with my I.T. experience during the "Internet bubble" but that's another story entirely) is top-notch. I'll stick to mainly what I like, but agree it can get finicky just not to the point where I'd throw it out the window since the sound and workflow are great as mentioned. I have and enjoy the essentials and the single EQ. I purchased any Harrison Mixbus products/plugins I'm using, so this isn't slanted at all in that way. It also makes me plead for any reason either to convince me to buy (or avoid) the character pack. Anybody use these? I'm a touch hesitant about these sorts of plugins but they appear to have more than enough flexibility. Anyway, I'd love to hear opinions on these. About V3, I'm optimistic that the great sound and workflow will not be negatively affected since they are laying atop Ardour and they've done a pretty good job of it up until now. The new functionality is another question entirely but I'm more concerned with retaining the mixing/console workflow that we have now at this point (and any improvements they may implement - like easily using my control surface!!! - could really make V3 a hit so I'm hoping).

Thanks, Larry. I'm happy to report that the lack of opinions about the character plugin set is still saving me money :)

I would love to go for the Gate expander - but I'm in poor mans mode right now.I'm really enjoying Mix Bus. I do composition in Sonar5 and export to Mix buss for mixing and final edits. It's a very good combination for me. I think that most of the plugs actually have a sort of demo mode. At least the basics package plugs worked when you called them up but the GUI dissappeared - the actual plug was working in the background.-not sure if that applies to the higher end plugs though.
