OK, here's the boy singing it

I recorded it for him? It took a pretty good while... I sang it on a whim. I enjoyed doing so.

But it was originally started for him to complete

So without further a due..

(I pulled the room back a bit on the drums, thanks again to all who smack me about the head and shoulders on my mix, I REALLY appreciate it)

He's not perfect? But he's priceless...
https://soundcloud.com/rockinrobby/my-son-sings-its-time-dragons-cover

My humble headphone mix.

He makes me proud.

What's funny is, when he sang it (yesterday, on Sunday) I said, "alright son, you're going to have to sing your song today.."

To him, that's work? He was reluctant, until I reminded him "Son, daddy's been working on this for two months? And it's YOUR SONG!" At which point he relented.

So we got in the studio, and he sang it, after which I said promptly, "OK, now sing it again!"

And by take 5, I said, "let's do it again!" and he said "No..." And I explained that "it's work?" It takes multiple tries, you take a little from this one, and a little from that one?

He said "no." He said, "I've sang it enough, and it's not easy, you have to belt it out! And I'm tired!" LOL! hahaha, and he said do you sing it multiple times? I said, "why yes? I do each of my songs (many times...) and then take they best parts? That is how it's done?

He was surprised... But still refused to give me another take! LOL! I still cobbled together a pretty good track of him. It was funny though, "good times..." I hope he can look back at it with fond memories, I think he will.

It was precious... I recorded him? So I was working the board, and watching/coaching him?

He was tensed up in front of the mic? And had his fist clenched, and was shaking it to the beat (just like the old man :-) It's funny because he's never seen me sing/record, but he did it pretty much the same way?

I know most of you have kids, and understand how I feel? I hope your kids are making music, or are interested in doing so. If they are, then you understand how I feel. There's a special feeling when your child is performing, if you're a performer? It's difficult to explain... If you've experienced it, then I don't have to explain it. If you haven't? Think about the best moments of your life? And distill them...  There you have it! It's a special feeling.

It's not as good as Deamons (inext on the page) IMO, but still, I think he did pretty good.

    Robby,

Nice to have an interest to share with your kids.   They will never recognize the significance of the effort at the time, as you do,  but they will thank you later.   They don't understand that these things are like gold parents.   He did a good job.    Backing track is well done too.

Proud you should be! I have a daughter that declined my offer of piano lessons then promptly borrowed my keyboard and went off and taught herself to play and sing. Something of a Rebel I think, it's funny how they're a chip off the ol' block.

How old? He did a good job! And it's a pretty long song, so I can understand him getting tired.
I had to do >20 vocal takes for my current project, and I am not sure it's better than what he did!

Johnny Reb, thanks so much. Yes, they're fun little experiments :-) I think mine will be musical? If he's not, I still love him? He has so many options.... He can be a musician, he can be an athlete? He can be an engineer... I HOPE HE'S ALL 3! :-D

I spoke with him this afternoon, he had just heard the mix with him singing? I said, what did you think son? And he said it was AWESOME!!  So, to me? everything else is just gravy... Don't get me wrong? I like gravy... I wish I could eat more of it. I make a mean gravy.. You fry up your meat? Then drain it off (leaving a little) Then add your flour? Brown it, then add some water, stir/wisk? With some salt and pepper? Bada Boom, Bada Bing, Bada Fuko... Man I love gravy. I can't eat it? But I love it. Nothing better than good mashed potatoes with fresh gravy on top? Absolutely nothing better...

I'm going to make him start to pull his own damn weight... He's learning the guitar? And the keys? So he needs to learn what goes in to a production like this...

Michael Brown it, then add some water, stir/wisk?

    Robbie,
Why would you want to use Michael Brown's name in this context?  It is offensive and not funny at all based on what is going on with his death.  This is no joke.

Thanks for sharing Robbie.  It's nice to see a Papa's Pride (I had to get the alliteration in).  It sounds that the more he got into the song - the more relaxed and fun he was having.

    "Robbie,

Rimmy? What the hell? He was a thug and he got what he deserved. The police were justified and this will be born out in the evidence (if you've studied it?) People who are "kittyfooting" around this issue are the problem. Get over it. People are overly sensitive like someone with a bad tooth trying to eat ice cream... If I attack you? With malice? I expect that you will use whatever force is needed to protect yourself. Therefore? I will not attack you... Don't attack the cops? And they won't shoot you... Attack the cops? Be prepared to be "dealt with..." Just my opinion, I'm sorry that it offends you, it was not indented to be offensive. People should not look to be less offensive (IMO) People should take less offence... Again (IMO) Great country! You get to have an opinion regardless of how offended it makes someone? If people's offence controlled our speech, it would be all good and well, "AS LONG AS THE ARBITRATOR AGREED WITH YOU PERSONALLY!" That's what's going on in parts of the world "right now?" People who are "objectionable? Get their heads cut off... Surely you don't agree  with that? And therefore? Well, my point "exactly..." If you don't like pornography? DON'T WATCH IT! (I personally enjoy it) When you pass judgement? And tell people what they can or cannot do, or can or cannot think or say? I believe you are no different than the people cutting people's heads off in the news today? Think about it...

ISIS/ISL/IS is "evil..." and they seek "in a major way!" to control what you can and cannot say, do, or think... You MUST believe as do they? Or you will be tortured, and killed... And have your head cut off? There is NO ROOM for dissent... Or any opinion not in line with what is considered "acceptable" comrade...

Don't foster or support that kind of evil? It's wrong. People are people and see things differently, that doesn't necessarily make them wrong? Or evil? It just makes them "different." (within basic bounds of individual safety and freedom) Accept the fact that people don't see things as do you? Or necessarily as do I? I don't care how you see things? As long as it does not interfere with me, at which point? Well... be prepared is the best advice I can give ;-)

This logic is "difficult" to argue with. An ideologue could chose to do so? Are you an ideologue?

What can Michael Brown do for you today? Here's an idea? Try not to rob stores? And try not to assault the police... (I find personally? That "yes sir, no sir" works well when dealing with the police...) You may have a different take on it? But my approach works well for me... If Mike Brown would have done so? This wouldn't be a discussion, and Al "Not so Sharpton" would be in NY, planning his next hate America attack... Don't F with the po po, and as a rule? And they won't F with you...

"This is no joke." DON'T F WITH THE PO PO..." It's a good way to end up getting shot... Justifiably...  It's simple man? I'm white, but if I punched a cop, and tried to take his gun" If he was white? I'm pretty sure he would shoot me? And would he be wrong to do so? No... No he would not...

And I wouldn't come at you after the fact saying, you don't understand because you're not green! It make's no difference.. There's right? And there's wrong. To parse it beyond that is what causes all of the problems we see in modern society IMO...

BUT HEY! You're allowed to be offended? It's a free country!

Be less offended? And we'll be more free... (WOW! What a concept?)

Good times, he's easing in to guitar and keys. Very gentle encouragement. I had him signed up for Karate and pushed him a bit with it, and he gave it up. So I lead by example, and ask him what songs he might like to try to sing. And then he watches as I build um. He can actually drive the console, arm to record, knows how to pull up the synth rack, understands mixing and busing. He's a pretty smart little booger, and yes. I'm very proud. Thanks for listening and commenting.
