This will probably sound corny, but...

I am so happy to see that the school I do some work out of is unboxing a buttload (no, I don't know the exact mathematical formuala to calculate the value of buttload) of brand new instruments.  A few years ago our district cut 5th grade orchestra and sold off all the instruments.  Apparently they have corrected that mistake and have devoted a good chunk of budget to bringing it back.

That's awesome!
It's been a disturbing trend to see the arts get the axe when schools talk budget cuts.

Depressing, yes.
Anyone who's interests are outside of economy/math/IT is feeling ... well like an outsider.
The "traditional" general education  ( history, biology, languages and similar humanistics)
doesn't easily give you decent incomes anymore, not to mention any form of fine arts.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.
