JRR - Steven Slate Drums 4 Platinum for $99

JRR is currently selling Steven Slate Drums 4 Platinum for $99

Opinion: Steven Slate Drums 3 Platinum Vs 4 Platinum
Looking for opinions to justify GAS or engage in restraint.

I've got Platinum v3 and I'm pretty happy with it, but don't care for the cymbals much.

Just wondering if getting v4 worth the extra $$.

Part of the consideration - as it is I tend to switch between SSD3, AD2 and Battery depending on mood, phase of moon and average breast size variation of the north american wild suburban female.

The main difference between 3 and 4 was the move away from Kontakt to a dedicated player. The player interface is a disappointment IMHO.

Since I really never used 3 in Knotackt but only used the new player in 4 I'm not as down on the player as Glyn is.

But I'm flexible if the sounds are what I'm after.

The interface is usable but does not match BFD, Toontrack or Adictive Drums. So if you are happy using version 3 in Kontakt upgrading just for the new interface may be a disappointment.

If you are buying for the first time it's good deal for drums that sound good straight out of the box.

I've no problem with SSD v3 other than I don't care for the cymbals.
Just noticed that JRR's version says it requires an iLok, don't do iLok any more.

Odd, mine does not need an iLok. If you are interested check it out, I think it's a mistake

Contacted JRR and it turns out it was a mistake, it's not iLok.T
They fixed their web page.  I used the web coupon they list on their KVRaudio ads and picked it up for 15% off.
