Well gosh darnit all to plop. Is summer over already?!

Not that there was much of a summer to begin with (which I didn't mind because I hate sweltering heat) but I've had to turn my furnace on a few times today (yes I have a furnace in my apartment which is weird) and start mucking about with crafty heat loss solutions.

Had a great summer this year, and we're still in the grip of high pressure. Nice and warm (and dry) for mid-Sept.

And I think geographically you are far further north than I am. I've heard the entire island lives in some weird heat bubble because of ocean currents.

I'm stuck in the middle (and slightly to the right) of a huge land mass so we get walloped. I don't even get that protective layer of pollution and general friction of hustle and/or bustle keeping me warmer like in the city.

Still though... seems a little early for these temps.

CSB... when I was in Britain it was spring and I was told to expect dull gray dampness the whole time. Traveled from London to Edinburgh and it was sunny skies and scorching heat the whole way. Apparently a freak occurrence.

Err..no We're at the mercy of the 'jet stream', it rules our weather systems. If it's meandering like a ribbon, and below us, we're warm, above us and we're cold. If it's flat, we get wet and windy.

Either way... still likely milder than Canuckerland.

And technically I'm in Northern Ontario (just barely). Gets pretty nasty. Not like where I grew up though where -40C and 6 foot snowbanks were common.

Unfortunately it all has to eventually end so it can happen again next year :)...kind of cool here and the leaves are starting to let go in the Northeast. Nothing serious yet but the writing is on the wall. The good news is the grass won't grow any more and I like that because I'm the one who mows it :)

The Farmers Almanac is predicitng a worse winter this year than last....I didn't know that was possible. We had record lows and many lost power in storms.

The Farmer's Almanac also predicted a scorching, extra humid summer on the East coast this year. And what did we get? Easily the mildest summer I've experienced in my 12 years in the US. It's been a cool 80-85 degrees the whole time, not that humid either. We've had some absolutely glorious days. Yes a couple of freak 90 degree days, but usually we'll have at least a couple of 95-100 degree weeks of unbearable humidity. I've barely had my AC on this year.

Summer is done.  Fire season is here in California.  They predict 104 degrees here.  That will probably be a few degrees hotter than Phoenix!

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

Its still sweltering here in Dubai, I walked about a mile last night and must have lost a few pints of fluid. The summer rule preventing outdoor manual work during the middle of the day ends on Monday, a few weeks too early me thinks.

Well, it's supposed to be in the 90's both days this weekend.  Hopefully, that will be Summer's grand finale.  I need cooler weather.
