Copy and Paste
Sonar X2 Producer
So did some searches of the forums not quite finding what I was hoping for so here it goes.
Beginner level stuff here but I have read my Garrigus book and watched the videos etc. but I can't seem to paste a copied clip from one portion of my track to another. I select and it looks like it copies fine but when I attempt to paste, I don't see any changes.
Not sure if I got the track into some state that's preventing me from doing so but the track doesn't seemed locked.
Any pointers would be very much appreciative.

Are you trying to copy & paste or? All you need to do TO COPY: CLICK a clip and DRAG it to a new place (on any track), all while holding down control key. (cont.=copy) From there you can drag & drop clips to anywhere.
The snap to grid will be your friend. Now, wasn't that easy?

Thanks Anonymungus. More like copy and paste. I have a guitar part that i did right earlier in the track and the same part repeats but I didn't do as good of a job on the later ones. I just want to copy the good and paste into the bad.

Make sure to do a Right-Click/Paste vs. Ctrl+V. I've had many instances where Ctrl+V didn't work, but Right-click/Paste will. Also, and this is a real issue for me, but, if you Cut from a Take Lane and attempt to Paste into another Take Lane, it won't do that. It'll always Paste into the same Lane and not where your cursor is, nor what other Lane you may have selected. At least, that's my experience. The work-around there is to Paste the clip where it needs to be sequentially, then Click+SHIFT+Drag the Pasted clip to the lane you wish to host it.

brconfllict is correct but there's nothing quicker than click clip, hold down ctrl & drag to new location, as mentioned above

I agree. CTRL+Drag is the easiest option for me in many situations also.
It works well even with multiple tracks / clips at once.
When it comes to a whole section of a song that might have 50 or more tracks in it
I find it easier to make the selection - then CTRL+C - then move now time to where I want the
paste to land - then CTRL+V.

Or create a Group of the tracks, so you can move them as one giant glob of data.

Thanks everyone looks like the various keyboard tips did the trick. Not sure why the other didn't work but we are rolling now.
