Back at it.

After 5 1/2 months off from the day job I had to return last Monday.
I've never had that much time as "my time" since I was...well I guess I've never. I've always had to answer to somebody for something.

It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I should be ashamed of myself for having such a great job
and thinking as I do...but I'm not.
Thinking I have another 8 yrs before I can "safely" live without it I think is much like one realizing they have just stepped into the twilight zone.

Life was wonderful when the clock wasn't controlling it. That much is certain.

I spent last week getting all my accounts reactivated and dealing with IT for user I.D./passwords and maybe today that much will be done. Maybe. I bet it didn't take but seconds to deactivate all that stuff.

So if you feel sorry for me I really think you understand how bad it is...if not, I understand because you probably have a day job too but obviously I'm still crying about it.

I hope you settle in quickly and that your health continues to have an optimistic prognosis.

I know how you feel Spacey. I was laid off for 7 months in 2011. Other than money being a little tight, it was wonderful. My wife and I got to spend lots of time together. I got to go to ALL my kids' softball and baseball games, and I got to focus on playing and songwriting. I was able to be much more productive music-wise when I didn't have to worry about inventory and other job related things. I'm not one of those people you hear about that feel that they lose their purpose in life after they retire. NOT ME! I'll be spending time with my wife and making music!

    Thanks Mike.
I did settle in quickly. I learned that nothing had changed in that time period. All I can say is that the products this company makes must be worth a hell of a lot of money because if I ran my house like the company I'd be in a food line.

Bob I guess we're different than a lot of folks. I say that because I can't recall talking with one person that I work with that looks forward to retirement. 9 out of 10 (not to my surprise) say, "well I can't hunt or fish all day, everyday".
They really don't have any other interests (from their exact words) and that just amazes me. I'm in the south so they add, "I couldn't handle being a porch monkey" LOL. ( lot's of folks sit around on porches here)

I could quite happily fill my time, all day, every day..playing guitar, recording, walking, reading, drawing, writing, gardening, building stuff, decorating... oh and just sitting, listening to music like I used to..imagine that...

Exactly James. I enjoyed everything you listed and then some. The time off was a bad blow to my working for the man attitude. A very good thing I'm not a single man. There'd be some changes made.

Hope it works for you Spacey and your health is good, I know what it is like not to have a regular day job.

    Thanks Wookiee.
I had a bad headache...they knocked me out for eight days and woke me to go home...headache gone but was missing a baseball size piece of my skull...went back when I was told to and I spent one day knocked out again and awoke the next day and sent home with all my skull.
During that whole time my only limitation by Dr. orders was not to drive or ride me Harley.

And the strangest part of it all...the doctors ( I know of three) that told me they had no idea what had happened or could explain why it happened and it was very unique. They explained that it was damage from "high impact" and usually 90% fatality rate (due to they really can't tell because of all the damage done to a body from impact) but there had been no impact to explain it. ( maybe I stopped thinking to fast?)

Even so...the weirdest part of it all has been the day I had to go back to the day job! LOL.

If spacey got body impact from a stop of thinking too fast I must be shattered to pieces (having never thought before).

The longer you are off work, the harder it is to return. Any kind of LTD is tough because you have to prove a lot of things to others and get your confidence back once you return to work. It's not easy for anyone because most of us don't realize how hard we were working before we became ill.

    All the best space man.

Bapuuuuuu  fallllllssss tooooo  peeee  seeezzzzz.......each time he reads a poooossssst.

John I've been there so many years there is nothing I need to prove. I was pretty sure that it wouldn't take me long to fix and get things back in order within a few weeks and fortunately after being back a week I know now I was right.
The hardest part of my job is getting there and realizing I'm trading my time, my life, for the protection (health insurance) of me and my family. There is no way I could afford to pay 5g's or more a month for the coverage I currently have. It seems that "affordable health care" is defined by completely stupid earthlings-this space man sure thinks they are friggin' idiots.

Well I found out yesterday that I had visitors (close friend(s) )showing up today to see how much my brain had been scrambled so I took a few days off...I think we may go farther south down to the coast in Alabama today...I hear it's beautiful and the one time I was at the coast in Florida I was to busy to enjoy it.
They already know that we're the genetically special/challenged descendants of aliens and can use only @ 10% so I understand their concern. ( they'll be happy to learn that I'm "normal" and still just as nuts as other earthlings)

I'm glad they sleep in...I like quiet mornings while I indulge in my good morning brew.
