IK Multimedia | EQ P50A, EQ P50B & EQ P60G + T-RackS 4.7

New EQ P50A, EQ P50B & EQ P60G Gear Models in T-RackS Custom Shop
T-RackS 4.7

IK Multimedia is proud to announce the addition of the EQ P50A, EQ P50B and EQ P60G to the T-RackS Custom Shop lineup. With them in the mix, the Custom Shop now features over 30 virtual emulations of some of the most legendary mixing and mastering gear in the music and recording equipment industry. The new additions come as a part of the latest version of T-RackS Custom Shop - they're virtual representations that let you take control of three classic modular EQs originally designed for custom mixing consoles that helped to define the bold "American Sound" of the late-'60s and '70s. With them, T-RackS Custom Shop continues to expand, offering producers, engineers and musicians 24/7 access to some of the most desirable compressors, EQs, limiters and effects of all time.

I've been playing with these new API models today, and I must say they're great on electric guitars and bass.  I didn't like them as well as IK's Neves on acoustic guitar and drums, but this is just my impression after a couple hours of demo time.

All three seem to share the same saturation modeling, which is well suited for amplified instruments.  I think my favorite of the trio is the 560 ("P60G"), the ten-band graphic one.  I was usually able to get this to sound better to my ears than the other two, perhaps because you aren't limited to 3 or 4 bands.  It's a fun and easy plugin to use when you want to shape a sound.

With the current promo on IK Gear Credits, these plugs are a great value right now ... they're 125 credits each, so you can get one by buying 150 credits for $60 (and have 25 credits left over for a future purchase), or you can go all in and get all three APIs plus one of the Neves for $150 by getting the 500-credit pack.  And this isn't counting any credits or jampoints you may already have in your account.  Ah, the joys of the Custom Shop!

Cheers,
Eddie

Eddie, if you had to choose, apart from PG, would you go for PA or PB? Or is there any reason to go for all three? And what about the Neve 73 and 81?
Cheers.

Like Eddie TX, I am hoping to snag all of them, with IK's current Group Buy going on, http://www.ikmultimedia.com/trgb/

I picked up $500 Custom Shop credits for $105 and my jam points, so I am really looking forward to this Group Buy getting me all the rest of the T-Racks stuff. If it gets to 3 free ones per purchase, I'll get the remaining ones! What a fun bargain!

Hi!  In my personal opinion, which is subject to change, I would rank these EQs thusly:

1.  EQ 81
2.  P60G
3.  EQ 73
4.  P50B
5.  P50A

The Neves and APIs sound quite different to my ears and tend to complement different sources, so it's good to have at least one of each.  And within each group, the more bands, the merrier -- although there are minor frequency choice variations that may make any one of these "best" in a given situation.  They're all really, really good.

Don't forget about the 432 Master EQ though.  One of the best EQ plugins I've heard, although you might not be able to use it for anything but actual mastering -- big CPU hog.

If you planned ahead and stocked up on half-price Gear Credits a few weeks ago, the current Group Buy is a fantastic deal.  All these plugins are among the best in their class, so being able to get them for so cheap is a no-brainer.

Cheers,
Eddie

Re: 2014/11/11 10:16:18 (permalink)
The group buy will probably go to 2 or 3, easily. If it goes to 4, I would get all but 2 of the processors with my one purchase.
Alternatively, I could buy a second one and then at 3 free ones, I'd have all the remaining ones (for me)and then any past 3 free ones "go to waste". It would mean $125 of my credits which I'd rather spend on AmpliTube stuff. So, I am happily watching and wondering how it will go.
It's still a bargain, regardless.

Indeed. This is why people are holding out on a second registration, wondering how far their first one will bring them.
Great IK group buy, indeed. This must be one of IK's finest years, with ST3 going strong.
Hope they also update their T-rackS shell
