REALLY tough choices...

Computer Music Music Software of the Year 2014

Bitwig Studio
FabFilter Pro-MB
FXpansion BFD3
Synapse Audio Dune 2
Korg Gadget for iOS
Slate Digital Trigger 2
MeldaProduction MAutoDynamicEQ 8
Renoise 3
Steinberg Cubase 7.5
Toontrack EZdrummer 2
u-he Satin
Universal Audio Neve 1073 Collection
Voxengo Elephant 4
XILS-lab XILS 4

I'd have a hard time picking between Pro-MB, BFD3, and MAutoDynamicEQ...

I think for shear Value I'd have to go MAD-EQ....but for product I'd have to go BFD 3...
And for Ease of use and pure brilliance...Pro M-B.

I can't pick...I hate voting

Out of that list CB7.5 is the item I am most likely to vote for with my dollars.

There is a bunch of stuff it's difficult to compare. For what it's worth I think I would pick XILS 4. I have had a lot of fun with that synth. I would think it was a bit of a neich product compared to some of the others.

    Intel i7 3770K @4.4GHz, 32GB RAM, 240GB SSD System disk, 2 x 2TB and 1 x 1TB (with SSD Cache) HDD. Windows 10,  Sonar Platinum. Roland Quad Capture.

That's certainly a broad group of products in the poll ... how many of us have used or even seen them all?

Many of the contenders are new versions of existing stuff.  Do you vote based on how much it's improved, or how good it is now vs. competitors?  I personally think the UAD 1073 deserves some recognition, based on my impression that it sounds more like hardware than any other EQ plugin I've ever tried.  Beats everything in its class, IMHO, and not by a small margin.

In any case, lots of worthy choices ... will be fun to watch the voting.

    Cheers,

These things are pointless.  What sense does it make to have Dune 2 on the list but not also include Papen Blue 2, for just one example.  This is just silly IMO.

I had to go BFD 3...It was a VERY tough choice, but,
to me, that program is a standout.

Owning much of what's on the list, it was quite difficult.

dm, I agree...but, it is what it s..LOL

I refuse to vote on such things. Too predicatable. I might have taken it more seriously if they broke down into categories. Was the latest cubase really that big of a leap compared to the upgrades to other DAWS? At least Bitwig is an attempt at something new. Considering the drastic price cut to Logic, that seems more of a game changer than the typical DAW upgrade.

Cra-pole-a . I think computer music is dying - a million comps, eqs, gat amps, piano vsts, reverbs ( both conv and algo)- we're done. It's all been done. Now we are on the 1000 times more disc space for 1 per cent better sounding eq route.
