Time for me lighten up and rejoin the FSF...

I've just re-read John's famous "Uages" diatribe.

And I saw something in there that reminded me of myself

My recent slew of indignation-driven posts are starting to look remarkably similar in tone and content to John's aforementioned fulminations (excepting of course, that my spelling and grammar are reasonably excellent).

Maybe, just maybe......... I NEED TO LIGHTEN UP

It's time for some inanity.

I'd never ventured in the FSF - though I contribute my fair share of inane drivel elsewhere...
Their Excellences could be holding their super secret meetings with the higher powers in there for all I know.

I have never been in this thread either.

Really don't know why I came here.

But I think from Ryan's response to that other thread, that "Their Excellences" had a meeting somewhere!!

I've heard rumors that their meeting is dragging on because someone nominated becan as the official Coffee House fruit and, apparently, not all of the members agreed that it IS a fruit.  This could take awhile.  I'm going to have Craig pour me another drink while I wait.

Inviting people from the CH to participate in a focus group was probably a mistake...

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Steve not only did you bump an old post. You decided to create a hate thread. I am disgusted honestly I thought you had a lot to contribute I have a lot of respect for people being close to the mark, but this is vile. You are better than this. Over and out.

It's not a hate thread Alex.

Steve reread what John had long ago posted that had been so upsetting to him and realized he had used a very similar tone in criticizing the FSF yesterday.

So this thread is basically him not wanting to be a hypocrite.

So go ahead. Rake up threads about what I said two and a half years ago, bump them, just write 'timely bump' and create a thread pointing to it. And then pretend it is for the common good.. Sorry no dice (read the bumped thread for context). It's a targeted vindictive attack on a forum member (sorry for not mincing my words) and it is wrong. I am disgusted. That's all I have to say.

You can be disgusted if you like, but the point is you don't really have any understanding of what's actually going on.

Aw, crap...  Now you've dragged me into all this.

His "need" was that before that particular situation occurred, things were nice enough around here that the Bakers would not have felt the need for additional moderation.  That was his point.  What Drew is trying to point out is that if you were not here during that time, you really wouldn't understand (and that has nothing to do with you personally).

My (repeated) point is that focused moderation is not a bad thing - as long as it stays upstairs where people are expected to behave differently and Cakewalk has products to protect.  Leave the Coffee House alone and, if anyone wants to discuss things that are inappropriate in a particular upstairs forum, they'll have a place to go.

All of that said, I think things will smooth themselves out just fine soon and that's enough from me!

Re: Time for me lighten up and rejoin the FSF... 2014/09/22 09:25:00 (permalink)
So, is it okay to post in the FSF now? I can't keep up with the rule changes.

Not that anyone has asked (because they haven't and never will), but you don't have to worry that I would ever be a forum host. I'm too fond of this forum to do that. It deserves better. Besides, I think the Bakers would prefer to have someone with a positive IQ in that role.

I know. It's a little bit like having me tell you that (just in case you wanted to ask) I won't let you give me a million dollars. There wasn't really any danger that it could happen and the fact that I would presume that such a possibility might someday exist is a little pathetic. This is usually followed by an uncomfortable silence that I frequently attribute to the fact that my tights have ripped again.

Anyway, I'd like to suggest that all future debates be conducted by mimes. Not only does it cut down on the noise, but Karyn has been wanting to get in a little target practice.
