Congrats!  That is a beautiful guitar and I am sure sounds wonderful.  I get my new Epiphone acoustic/electric this Wednesday.  Fun and exciting for both of us.

    Holy smoke that's awesome!

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Excellent Martin!  Congratulation's, you will love the tone of this instrument.  I will be curious to see what you think of recording that pickup direct.  I still have not found a accoustic pickup that records better than mic'ing the actual tone wood of the instrument.

My Taylor direct sounds 'OK' in a mix, but certainly not if it needs to be 'up front' and the focus of the track.
I do like direct if I'm noodling and just trying to work an idea or part out.
Solo guitar, not gonna work, for me anyway.
    D-35 still a 3 piece back? I think I have that right.

    Looks nice!

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

I just did a simple direct in recording test of the Lyric pickup, passed with flying colors.

That sounds pretty good for a pickup - not sure I would record a solo guitar part with it if a good mic setup was available, but I was surprised at how natural it sounds. Have you tried miking it up and mixing a little of the direct sound in with it?

No I haven't tried micing it yet...I just got it yesterday...what you heard was just a quick plug in and hit the record button. No other prep, no room conditioning, no noise...just guitar...no eq no effects, no compression...

That's not bad at all.  I would probably experiment some with a combination of mic'ing and direct; then blending them as Sharke suggested.  I know on my solid rosewood Larrivee, I love capturing the sound of that real wood as well.

I have a MXL V-69 ME Tube Mice, but I don't want to use it because it picks up all kinds of room and environment noise. I like the idea of just plugging in and recording...simple. The Lyric works perfect for me. The basic sound of it gives me something nice I can work with in mixing...I like it...

Well I tried micing the D-35 with the MXL V69 ME Tube mic on one channel and the Lyric on the other. Then I added some of Pro Channel's EQ, and Concrete Limiter and ended up with a fantastic sounding recording...for some reason room noise wasn't a problem tonight.
