Automation for MIDI FX plugins?

So, I though I'd do some simple MIDI plugin automation (in this case, making an envelope for MIDI velocity scale) but I'm surprised they don't show up as an option for the automation lanes.

Thoughts on how to pull this off or something similar? I have some other MIDI plugins I could see using automation with (Beside Cakewalk, TenCrazy stuff, notably...

I believe MIDICurve may be what is needed. This thread http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3021511 starting with post #4 covers using the MIDI VST plug-in to create a MIDI velocity curve.

I'm not using simple instrument tracks either. Just plain old MIDI tracks. I do see automation lanes for CC data... but not for velocity offset or scaling, which is what I would like.

I actually already have midiCurve installed from a while back. Useful, though a bit annoying to deal with it the way that's needed to make it work. It's been helpful for things (I use it every now and then for scaling and shaping CC2 (breath) from my EWI). Unfortunately, I don't get how to automate its parameters over the course of the song.

Ended up with a solution to what I wanted, which was making my track of MIDI data that I wanted to automate scale velocities drive another synth and just automate CC7 (volume).  The reason I wanted to scale velocities as opposed to volume to begin with was because I have multiple tracks of MIDI driving a single softsynth, so now I just have two copies of the synth running... not the most elegant thing, but it'll do.
