Right on...

Midi implementation was a disaster and we pleaded with them to remove midi support introduced in Auditio ver 2. Develop it but make it a vst compliant plugin. Don't polute the program with more garbage.

Was an interesating time and caused a lot of rage and polarization of users on the DAW side and on the audio editor only side. Don't know what the current degraded state of Audition is and don't care as long as I can get ver 1.5 working as an editor.

They finally got around to making it 64 bit. Vst 3 seems to work fine. I honestly can't think of a complaint. I think the only reason i don't use it more is because I have so many programs that I am used to using.

Did you get it to work on win 8?  All versions worked on 7 and previous with reduced functions as the original dream deteriorated. Consensus was that after the mess they made with ver 2, ver 3 and the 3.01 or whatever upgrade was at least stable, and a salvage effort to repair what they destroyed with Audition 2..

My biggest complaint was the way they busted SMPT communication trying to implement ASIO compliance. Company said they realized they forked it up big time but would fix it in Audition 3. Ver 3 came out and was as messed up as 2.

At my age, you got less decades forward to wait for fixes.

The barrage of bug reports flowed like water and the worse Adobe dug themselves under, ignoring the complaints. Apologists from the company tried to do damage control. Saying basically that Adobe was a mega empire too big and convoluted to issue repair patches without affecting possible clashes with the video empire. To fix the screw ups would be too much of a paperwork and legal nightmare, so live with the crap. Keep the credit card ready however for the next release.

Too bad, because the original trajectory from Syntrillium was state of the art and had our individual well-being at the front. Adobe showed us their skin for what it was really worth. They love your dollars but have no love for you after they have extracted a fee from the plastic card.

Adobe cc versions work just fine on win 8. I think muchbof the neglect on 3 was due to the fact they knew they were scrapping the old code. CS6 was an awful stopgap. Adobe made a decision to go in a different direction and mever looked back. As bitflipper stated, Adobe never wanted a DAW. They wanted a great audio editor to build on. Audition 3 was so buggy I refused to use it. CS6 was so stripped down it was useless. Adobe realized there was no point in going backwards, took the most commonly used audio aspects of previous versions and went forward. Adobe is a very stubborn company so I doubt they revive the features you miss. I can say that the current version is rock solid and any gripes with version 3 simply does not relate.

Thanks Dub,

Good to hear that they have a current product that will work on win 8. Will have to check it out unless you have to buy the whole suite to get it. Likely closer to Sound Booth.

CS6 was like soundbooth and I told the programmers personally that was the case. They were aware and assured me they simply went down that road to have a Mac compatible version by release time.
