Adding Items to Tools Menu
I know this is a perennial, and I've read the older threads on the subject, and the Knowledge Base article, but... still no joy.
I want to put Sound Forge and RX4 into the Tools Menu, both for convenience.
Here's what I've put into the registry under HKEYLOCALMACHINE/SOFTWARE/Cakewalk Music Software/Tools Menu/Sound Forge:
CurrentDirectory E:\Sound Forge 11\Sound Forge Pro 11.0
ExePath E:\Sound Forge 11\Sound Forge Pro 11.0\Forge110.exe
MenuText &Sound Forge
StatusBarText Run Sound Forge
Type WaveEditor
Paths and directories are confirmed.
Right now, this gives me the "SONAR X3: Cannot start process" error.
Now it gets a little complicated. After I first tried this, I noticed that I actually had two Forge110.exe files. One was in the directory given above, the other was in the directory just above it (E:\Sound Forge 11). When I pointed the registry entries there, the Sound Forge entry in the Tools Menu actually started Sound Forge. (However, this turned out not to be a practical solution for reasons I won't go into unless someone thinks it really matters.) But... even when Sound Forge starts, it opens with everything on the whole track, not just a selected area or a selected single clip.
I've done the same set of entries for RX4, and it works, EXCEPT the whole track gets opened within RX4, not just the selection.
Unless I don't remember right, it used to be possible to open Sound Forge from the Tools Menu with just the selected portion of a clip. Is that right?
In short, my questions are:
1. Does anyone see anything wrong in my registry entries for Sound Forge?
2. Does anyone know if it's possible to open just a selection with a WaveEditor tool, and if so, how is it done?
Thanks!
