I'm afraid you'll have to wait for Sonar XXL for that update. The next few versions of sonar will be dedicated to the following (not necessarily in this order):
TPI - Talent Plug-In; this Effect will operate via VST2 & VST3 protocols, but will be very expensive. Once you've paid with your soul, you'll still have to pay for the quarterly updates or you will start to lose your fingers, toes and other extremeties.
ASPI - Alembic Sounding Plugin; this effect will only be available on the AU platform (Am Universal). Once the plugin is installed, it will then download and install NagBap for you and your life will never be the same.
Colored Track lanes - this new feature will be available only for those cakewalk owners who also own the Mushroom plugin.
PCDS - the Phil Collins Drum Set; this little number will take you back to the '80's with reverse reverb on the drums, electronic drums and of course, 2 drum sets which you can program to play at the same time while on a spinning platform. a virtual PC and Chester Thompson will also be available for an extra cost.
Plug n play song - this beauty is simply what it sounds like. just drop in one of the many variations of a song, add vocals from Beyonce' or guitars from Slash, bass from even the best dead bassists and voila'! you too can be a rock star!
all this and more, but I can't tell you about any more of the priority updates because of an NDA (non-deliniating assessment). thanks for your interest, tho!

Yes, ideally all updates are updated.
In that case it should be a good idea and THEN, we'll also be able to know which version of Sonar you're working on.....
