Open letter to forum hosts!!!

Hi,
Some of you, you know who you are, are evidently trying to do a good thing.

Thanks for your efforts, your positive enthusiasm, and your optimism.

I may have some differing opinions about some of the changes but it seems like your efforts should be commended. Thanks for trying to make the forum a more comfortable place.

Thanks - this is a bunch of new stuff for a lot of folks, and the process will undoubtedly experience some growing pains and such along the way.

There will undoubtedly be some number of success and some number of mistakes, and if all try to work cooperatively toward the successful side of things, it should all balance out in hopefully not too much time.  :)

Yes.

I already gave my props to the hosts in the other forum, but it's worth repeating here - your time and efforts are much appreciated!

What if we, hypothetically speaking, don't actually know who we are? I mean, suppose I...I mean, uh...I had a...a friend who wasn't convinced his parents weren't kidding when they told him his name? How would I, I mean he know? And what if this hypothetical and completely anonymous person was not completely sure that everyone else on the planet wasn't in on the joke? Oh, and add to that the idea that this guy, whomever he might be, had a pretty good idea that all of the people he knows aren't actually human, and that they are studying him for their own nefarious purposes? How would he know then? If he says he knows, how do you know that he knows? Does he know that you know that he knows, or is he ignorant of what he knows? Or is he only pretending to be ignorant while all the while he is fully aware of the fact that he knows that you know that he knows that you think you know, but in fact you don't really know that he's wearing someone else's skin and pretending to be human, just like you? (Or is he?)

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

I thought I knew who I was once but..... my ex-wife said to me "I just don't know who you are any more" and so now I'm not sure who I am.

I checked in the mirror but it turned out there was some guy approaching his fifties looking back at me. I knew then it wasn't me as I'm twenty one.

Where have I gone? If anyone finds me please post me back to the UK. Preferably first class, insurance value is negligible. Thanks.

I am just hoping and trying to help, and will do the best I can at that.  Near as I can tell, we are all on the same team - the more we can support each other, the more we can share and learn.  That has been a strength of these forums since I can remember - and probably some since before what I can remember.

Thanks, Mike.

To those who seem convinced that this is a conspiracy to quash free speech or pursue personal vendettas, please remember that we are the same folks who've spent years trying to help others and share experiences. People who share your passion for music and the wonderful software that makes it possible to do things we couldn't dream of 20 years ago. Words like "Nazi" and "Gestapo" are hurtful, unnecessary and very much off the mark.

So thanks, Mike.

Hats off to those who took on the too-often thankless job of host/moderator.  I know what that's like, having been one many years ago ... I don't think I was ever called a Nazi, though.  I had an exceptionally congenial group, and this was back in the days before trolling became a national pastime.   "Papa Smurf" was thrown at me once or twice ... that's about as harsh as it got.  I'm lucky.

Anyway, don't let the whiners get you down ... most of us really appreciate what you do.

Cheers,
Eddie

Daryk, absolutely nothing's changed.

Everything remains, in much the same way as Led Zeppelin's 'song' did, the same.

Except when Karyn "reprimands" you now, it's official, as opposed to unofficial.

Or not, as the case may be.
