trouble with panning audio

hello everyone, I have finally become able to sign in to the forum.
this is my question, I have a audio (guitar) track where I record hard left, at the end i want to pan it over to hard right, everyone has heard this before. however, nothing I do seems to work. first I try to write using automation. second, I open a automation lane, set the nodes at the beginning and end of the clip. again, nothing.
I have done this rather cheesy trick many times before so I don't understand why i'm having trouble.
any ideas??

    Is it a mono track? How is the routing (what is the track output) and how is the panning from there onwards?
    If you record on the left side of a stereo track, you cannot move the sound to right with panning. You need Channel Tool for that, IIRC.

    Yup if you created a mono track on one side of a stereo track, then make it mono.

    Yup if you created a mono track on one side of a stereo track, then make it mono.

    To do this click on the track interleave button in the track inspector. The track interleave is above where "E" is pointing in the picture below

    Sonar, just like the other programs are non destructive, so you really cannot record into sonar hard left.
     
    What your doing is recording Mono signal onto a Stereo track and this is why you are having problem. Record Mono to mono and Stereo to Stereo and you will be able to pan after its recorded into Sonar

    Don't forget you can convert stereo clips to mono or mono to stereo - Clips > convert to mono and Clips >convert to stereo.

    Symptoms of mono recording on stereo track include things like when you pan, the sound quietens then disappears as the panning proceeds.
     
    As mentioned above, change the track to mono, or have the track set to stereo and convert the audio clip from stereo to mono.
     
    Note that there's a rather large functional difference in having the track stereo or the clip stereo. Some plugins can get a bit flaky if you switch between mono and stereo while they are inserted in your FX bin. I'm looking at you Overloud TH2.
