Will freezing a synth work properly in X4? (Solved, thanks CW!)
Freezing a synth (Dim Pro for instance) freezes the audio out of time and has been doing so for several versions now. Are there any plans to fix this issue in X4? It would be most helpful :O)

Hi - First I've heard of this.. Assuming.. You are using X3E and DP 1.5 64 bit? You have performed a VST reset? http://www.cakewalk.com/S...ommended-for-UpgradersWhat other synths do you have the issue with? Are there particular steps to reproduce and other threads to point to? Thanks.

The only time I've encountered this was in X1. I had turned off the global PDC in the control bar and later froze an instance of Rapture, which resulted in the audio to be out of time. Turning the global PDC back on made no difference to the timing of the audio playback, but unfreezing, turning the PDC on and re-freezing did. Quite possibly nothing to do with the issue here, but I thought my experience of it may prove useful none the less.

I will do a rescan, but I have raised this issue several times in the past. DimPro is the biggest culprit, and one of the VSTs I use the most..

To be clear it is a reset, then a rescan. I was trying to work out whether you had a specific issue with DP or multiple plugins? It's not clear to me whether your issue is Sonar or DP hence I was asking you what other plugins you have problem with. Can you confirm X3E and DP 1.5 Pro please? If there are any extra threads to point to with more info please let me know by pasting URL. Many thanks.

Some more specifics would be useful...off by a few ticks? A particular number of measures? The same amount every time, or different? Later or earlier? Do non-Cakewalk synths do this? Etc. Having not experienced this, I can't investigate on my own system.

Not encountered this myself, sorry. As a workaround... Make sure the midi or audio clip starts at the start of a bar (just for easy placement later). Export the audio. Import back to the same starting place. Mute the original and disable any FX on the track to save CPU. (Or is this what you already do?) Bit painful though for what should be a one-click operation. Does it still happen if you have an empty bar included in the clip before the musics start?

I am with the "it ain't happen to me" camp. But I do remember something about like Chilll Danny is saying that happened back with earlier versions of X.

I rarely freeze a synth, and have not noticed this. One thing I have noticed (with Z3TA+2) is that when multiple oscillators are running, the synch mode of those oscillators can change the sound with each performance depending on how these are set up; but does not change the timing. More data would be helpful (are you running X3e?), as it is not clear what you are doing/seeing. Are there steps to replicate it so that we can try it out?

I freeze everything all the time... Synths an audio tracks as well (Amplitube uses a lot of resources)... I've not had this happen to me even with DP, so I'm wondering what it might be on your system...
I'm guessing you did check the status of PDC as that was my first thought as well...
More info might help...?

Do you have a plugin like Perfect Space or the linear phase EQ on the track (or anywhere else in the project)?

OK, after a long phonecall to Cakewalk I have finally gotten a much older installation problem solved thanks to Joey at support. We totally reinstalled DimPro64 after a full registry cleanup and now it works as advertised. Thanks Cake!
