scared to post it...

I'm a little more aggressive with this sound than I usually am. I'm afraid it's too busy. Too much guitar. too much goofy stuff.

But then, I kinda like it.

I think the lead guitar playing needs a bit more practice but the melody is very good which is ofc what matters most. I also very much like the singing.

This song has potential, but I agree with kakku about the guitar playing-it's not ready for prime time.  The other issue that I hear is that the overall mix is muddy on my system.  If you cut frequencies around 200-250hz, it might help clear things up.  A slight boost around 3000hz would give this a little sparkle.  Also, if you spread things in the panning, it would help to open up this mix and give it some breathing space.  Otherwise, good effort and good luck.

    All the best,

Interesting song, the lyrics are good, avoiding cliche's. There's a fair amount of out of tune (lead guitar) or out of key stuff (synth arpeggios) going on though, which is a shame. I'd be inclined to strip this back at the start and then add elements gradually to build the song.

If it were me...   The lead guitar parts sound a bit rushed and just slightly out of tune with the keys (?) playing in unison, the high pitched pad could use some variation, perhaps with filtering or maybe coming in and out of sections, and I'd remove some mids from the rhythm part on the right for more clarity.   I might also pan the lead vocal (sounds good!) just a little more center with a little delay.

On a positive note, it sure seems like you have something worthwhile spending the extra time!

    Thanks guys!

The matching key part to the guitar is done with a GR20 guitar Synth. There are 3 parts actually. The guitar part which is exactly what I played. The GR20 Synth part which is sorta close. And the Midi sent to Sonar which doesn't catch a lot of the bends and the slides... hammer on pull offs. I actually really like it that it doesn't track exactly. It's a bit like a lingering ghost.

The different synths take pitch bends differently. It's all hopelessly goofy and fun.

It's on my list to return to it, but I've got 2 hours of 12 track recording to mix and I'm making a 16 track on Friday, so I may never get back to this. I'm not in the band or anything. I was just trying to have some fun with a quick idea recording I made for my female vocalist friend to send to her out of town bandmates.

I'm just the guy with mics for her. My part was just goofy fun, and I still like it. I've listened to it a few more times. The stuttering rhyth... the key shifts and goofy sounds... the play with the decimator biFilter. It's a smile for me.

The higher arp synth is the midi I recorded for the bass part transposed up. It's pretty simple and I do have sign draw on the volume envelope for that one so it does oscillate some.

And I don't mean that I don't care about this track. I really do. I just well... like it bad I guess.

One thing I did do is leave a guitar part when I recorded the bass part with my guitar synth. I put a bass pedal into GR20 and left the guitar sound in addition to the gr20 bass sound. Then took the midi, shifted it up an octave and put it on an arp to Rapture.

Oh and btw, SteveC, there is a delay on the vocal but it's lost in the soupy mess. :-)
The delay on vocal is dotted eigth at 17% feedback and -20 dB level. the filter peaks around 1.2K. Saturation is on and there are 2 biFilter's stacked on the vocal.

I agree with Stevec --- there is a good base of music here (e.g., good lyrics, melody, FX accents, etc.).  Similar to the comments above I found that things were a bit out of sync.  The rhythmic sounds (e.g., guitar pan L) sounded out of sync with the drums.  A bit more looseness (is that a word?) with the rhythmic sections might give this song a less mechanical feel.
You have started something good with this and I hope that you get a bit of time to work on this using some of the suggestions above.  I think that it would be worthwhile and I would look forward to hearing it again.

Cool song! The mix needs help. Just out of curiosity, how old is the guitar player? Time playing? If he's a fairly new player then he just need to keep it up. He's searching so that's a plus.

    Again, cool song!

Good song and the vocalist is good.  I like her voice and delivery.    Nice overall track, but the guitar playing is very distracting.   I think overall it is worth pursuing with a new guitar part.

Guitar player is 44 and he's me. Still learning, of course. I probably played thirty leads and just kept the last one indiscriminately.

All that needs to said about this track is written above, it sounds like you have a good tune and some interesting lyrics however here it comes across very much stuck in the mire with to much happening at one time.

We all have to learn some how and you will find invaluable help from the good peeps here.
