Noob Questions about installations, updating, etc...

First off, if there is a FAQ, I will learn to use it but since I am new to this place and software I have a couple of quick questions.  Yesterday, I upgraded my largely unused SONAR X2 Producer (itself an upgrade from X2 Studio) to SONAR X3 Producer.  That got me 12 files to download, which I did and I have install (I think) aside from the Addictive Drums which I will catch after work today.  My questions are these:

1. This came also with Dimension Pro 1.5 plus an expansion pack.  I already had Dimension Pro installed from X2 Prod so do I need to install it again (IE has anything changed?)?

2. I see there is an update to this program called X3e (I believe)...where would I find that to download and install?

3. I have access to Lynda.com and with it a course called "Up and Running with SONAR X2 Producer"...can I assume there are enough similarities between X2 and X3 that this is still a viable course?

Many thanks in advance and I promise to be a good forum citizen once I get grounded here because bad ones drive me nuts too

My setup, if it matters is:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit running on a Sweetwater Creation Station CS250v21, an M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB audio device (possibly to be replaced one day by ?), a pair of KRK Rokit 5s, a Nektar Panorama P1 Controller (used with Reason - a lot), a Korg PadKontrol, and my keyboard is a Yamaha MO8 that is now basically a glorified MIDI controller -- but does actually make it's own sounds too :)

No assuming you already have Dim Pro 1.5 installed of course

    2. I see there is an update to this program called X3e (I believe)...where would I find that to download and install?

You'll find it in product support HERE

Yes definitely. You'll also find some ahem... great videos in my sig links that also apply (some freebies, some not)...

You're very welcome. This forum is also a great resource with plenty of knowledgeable users.

It's probably best to put this info in your signature. The info can help others help you if you have problems and saves you typing it out every time.

Thanks...what kind of bike you ride?  Got a 2012 Harley Super Glide about to be sold to get a BMW F800GT.

I do, in the x64 variety.  That includes the "expansion pack" I assume?

    Excellent, thank you.

I will be checking those out for sure.  I should add that I am NOT a pro at all, just a hobbyist.  I am primarily a guitarist in my musical life, but through a trick of fate I got hooked on Reason 7 and have learned a fair bit of synth programming already and I plan to use rewire to keep my Reason habit going.  So I have a long road ahead, but I dig this stuff so I don't mind :)

That is going to be a welcome relief.  The Reason community is having a collective head explosion over the recent release of Reason 8 which has split the field in an ugly way.

By the way, Rapture is still 1.22, and Session Drummer 3 and Perfect Space have not changed either.

And, you only have to download and install the X3e maintenance, and can skip the b, c, and d maintenance.  This is because X3e will have all of the other patches already applied - they switched to cumulative maintenance.  That saves a bunch of time and pain in the rear-ness.

You will want do do a reset and a full rescan of all of your plugins after moving to X3.

It is a GREAT release, and you should have a blast.  :)

If you have dim pro already look at your patches list, the expansion packs should be at the bottom of the list, if they are not you dont have them :)
