Take Lanes: What's the point

Gotcha! I'm actually wondering: what the point of take lanes having a mute button if recording each take is automatically gonna mute the previous ones. It seems somewhat pointless. Idk, I have a lot of weird take lanes questions.

    Depends on the recording mode selected. Lane mutes may be pretty handy in "Sound on Sound" mode.

    davdud101 - keep searching around and learning about comping capabilities in Sonar X3.  It makes the point of take lanes abundantly clear once you see what can be done.

    Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

    Plus the one obvious point, that if you want to audition a previous take, you can mute the other takes(including  the most recent one). +1 on the comping features!

    If you use them as layers to do things like massed choir vocals, Mute comes in handy for checking which tracks you want to keep. I just did a background vocal chorus track with about 10 takes, and was trying to sort out the best panning options...mute worked great for that. Of course, in this context I wasn't using them to comp.
     
    Also when recording into a Take Lane, sometimes you want to choose which take(s) to play along with.
