BB King taken ill

B.B. King, the legendary blues guitarist, fell ill Friday night during a performance at the House of Blues in Chicago and canceled the remainder of his current tour.

Mr. King, 89, was “immediately evaluated by a doctor” and was said to be suffering from dehydration and exhaustion, his website said. He canceled the eight remaining shows of his tour, including an Oct. 13 gig in New York at the Times Square music club that bears his name.

It's amazing he's still gigging at that age.

    Get well BB.

Good to hear it's only exhaustion and dehydration.  Those are both easily correctable!

What an amazing guy he is. Here I am at 45 feeling a bit older each day and BB keeps on trucking. Hope he gets well soon.

Oddly enough, first time I became aware of BB King was through U2, watching Rattle and Hum in the late 80s.

I remember him saying that people looked at him and went "Here he is, a 62 years old, and look what he's trying to do"

I wonder if he knew he'd still be at it over a quarter of a century later...

I do hope he recovers and keep on singing the blues for at least another decade.

89 years old, diabetic, overweight, ex-heavy drinker, twice-divorced - and most damning, a traveling musician. Not a formula for longevity. He should give us all hope. I'm already playing "The Thrill is Gone" in my head.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

There's a new commercial out where a girl buys a storage unit at auction and finds and old Lucille guitar in it.  So she "finds the original owner" who, naturally, is BB who plays it, signs it and gives it back to her.

    It's a nice commercial.
