Can't decide.... Waves sales - EMI12345 Channel Strip or Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter?
Hello Waves have just introduced the EMI 12345 Channel strip (introduction price by $99). They also sell Aphex Vintage Aurel Exciter for $99 right not. I know that they are totally different products, but can't decide on witch one to get... The Aurel Exciter are included in both Dave Audé and Dave Clark bundels, so I guess these guys really enjoy this product. As I am also mostly into electronic music, it seem like a good plugin to have... On the other hand, EMI 12345 hardware was used for Beatles and Pink Floyd albums.... I am sure I don't go wrong with any of these, but what to choose and why? Thanx!

Don't know anything about the EMI strip, but I did get to play around with and mix with the Aurel Exciter, and it is pretty awesome. Like all exciters, it is easy to overdo, but used judiciously it can really bring out some magic in an otherwise lackluster track. I used it on a clean guitar track and on overheads and it was sparkle-tastic.

I would suggest you alternatively look at iZotope's Alloy 2. It is pretty awesome, is super intuitive, and doesn't come with the Waves WUP nonsense.
Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

tell us what you have already that comes close already ....the abbey road is a great tool but keep in mind that it is cpu hungry and you take this plugin to reallly use its full potential (M/S , Drive , Dyn +Eq)ect ..) Aphex is super light and a great "quik fixer " , if you already have comps , sat , eq's and great drives ..go aphex ....but keep in mind that the aphex is to be used carefully and only here and there ..don't trip if you use it once a project , but when so , it will shine like no other !! In case you missed that one i amde one video on it ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7J60WkQJts

Base the decision on which plugin you'd use the most. I'm not a big fan of enhancers/exciters... so I'd choose the channel-strip.

Aphex is great on dull recordings or old "lo-fi" sounding drum loops etc. However in some cases I've found it sounds phasey if used as a send and I can't work out if it's the plug or a problem with Sonar buses. I've heard the same thing, for instance, with bass parts with a bass amp send when looping a section. Sometimes the first pass of the loop will sound OK and then after that it sounds out of phase. But I digress...

Hey Thanks for your feedback guys. I demoed both of them, and they seem like really good product in their own right. I like them both... Anyways... I got other EQs, compressors, and other Exciters, so not really "need" them as such, but its always fun with new stuff... Think I will go with Aphex, after Zos video above as well as they are favorites of both Dave Audé and Dave Clark. Thanks again!
