Multisample error when opening projects (Sonar x1)

Greetings,
 
A few years back I was working with Sonar x1 on a laptop.  That laptop died but I kept it.  Fast forward a few years...  I was able to remove the hd from the laptop and copy all the files to a new laptop.  I installed x1 again and went to open the past projects only to be faced with multiple errors of,"Multisample not found" for session drummer 2.  I have all the files that sd2 is looking for but the file path shows my old laptop user name and folder locations.  Ive tried to rename the user folder to match what sd2 is looking for but cannot change the user folder name to match.  I'v seen some instances that you can change the registry path but cant really find a step by step method to redirect sd2 to the audio files.
 
Any help will be appreciated..

    Rather than make the registry changes, it is safer to use the command line mklink to create directory junctions from the location the error messages report to the actual location of the multisample files. I can provide a specific example given the exact path in an error message and the actual location ln the current installation.

    here is the error message path:
    C:\Users\Darren\Desktop\Sounds\Unorganized sounds\timbo69.wav
    The new path is
    C:\Users\Dee Chan\Desktop\Sounds\Unorganized sounds\timbo69.wav

    Launch cmd.exe (depending on your system, it may need to be run as administrator)
    Assuming C:\Users\Darren no longer exists at the command line type:
       mklink /j C:\Users\Darren "C:\Users\Dee Chan"
    This will cause any reference to C:\Users\Darren to look in "C:\Users\Dee Chan"

    That did it... scook thanks so much... Now i'm going to save as .cmb all those old files.. That should help me now
