SoundIron Iron Pack #9

In case you haven't seen this series yet, they're small Kontakt libraries for cheap. If you were a fan of the Hollow Sun instruments (RIP Stephen Howell) you'll probably dig these, too.

This one's only $3.99 at the moment - grab it before it shoots up to $4.99! It's a collection of nice-sounding plucky pads. I like plucky pads, it's kind of like getting two patches for the price of one.

I've got packs 1, 5 and 7 and they've been surprisingly useful considering the narrow focus of each one. They require full Kontakt, version 4 or 5.

UPDATE: OK, so I downloaded IP-09 and have been zoning out here with the kind of spacey meanderings these sounds inspire.

A correction: my initial description of "plucky pads" was mistaken, based on the demo tracks alone. Although there are some plucky pads in there, most of them would be better described as just, um, pads. Ambient, evolving pads. Twelve instruments altogether (Ambience 7 with "Punch" turned up is my favorite), with the same controls as the other Iron Packs (attack, edge, release, stretch, punch, sparkle and soar - turn the knobs and it's mostly obvious what they do).

Well worth the $3.99, I think.

I got o e or two of them.  Just an FYI for non-Kontakt owners; they also work with sfz players.  Not quite the same experience, but still high quality sampling of their sounds for very little money.

Yeh, I forgot to mention that they come with SFZ files, too.
