Is Addictive License different to Sonar X3 license.

I can legally install Sonar on multiple machines as long as I am the only one using it and as long as I don't using it on multiple machines at the same time. I have X3 installed on 2 partitions on one computer - one is dedicated to audio only, an done is more general purpose and used along with Sony Vegas and other toys - works fine.  
 
I am going to be traveling around a bit, so I put Sonar on my Laptop - no issues until I went to install addictive. It allows itself to be installed on 2 computers simultaneously only, and sees the two partitions as separate machines.  I must admit I don't think it is correct to add things to a package with a different license to the core product.
 
Thoughts welcome.

With the way upgrading and expansions work (such as upgrading AD1 to AD2 or Melodyne Essential to Melodyne Editor), they would still need to have their own licenses. Plus, I'd imagine it has a lot to do with the owners of said plugins and preventing their products from piracy. They can't expect Cakewalk to be responsible for their property and I can't imagine Cake would want to.
 
A lot of companies like East West only allow for a single license when they sell a product which is stored on an iLok. They sell multiple licenses at a discount to people who already own the first for situations such as needing to use a second computer at the same time. While I disagree with that method, you are essentially paying for the license when you buy software anymore; not the software itself.

If you want it on your laptop while travelling, just login to you xln account and deactivate it on one of the home systems and activate your laptop. When you get back reverse course.

Wouldn't this require the daws to always have access to the internet ?  If so, how do you use the product offline ?
 

That is what I presumed.  But then I guess you can only switch the licence from one computer to another by using one of the active computers to deactive it's own licence so you can then reactivate from a new one ?  And, for the above scenario, you'd have to do this before leaving ?
