The display showing location of the cursor that is...I feel sure this is in prefs somewhere but I can't find it under display or elsewhere I've looked. Thanks very much, Randy

Yes, right-click in the time display just below the track view menu. There should be a popup select list of choices. One of the choices is "None". When set to None, the hot spot still exists so the time display can be reset.

Sorry but that's not what I'm talking about, I mean the white numbers that change in real time when moving the mouse around with the cursor placement. Thanks Steve, Randy

It's "X" for Aim Assist so you can remember that "X marks the spot" (on the timeline).

Aim Assist is wonderful when I want it and extremely annoying when I don't. I use it to drag in clips where i want them, and to split accurately.

I had tried aim assist long ago and didn't think it was anything I'd ever need and never tried it again. Yesterday I thought I'd check it out after reading your post to see what I might be missing. Long story short, I find it very useful (especially with snap on) and I've committed the X shortcut to memory. Thanks Konrad!
