Guitar of the day...

Is brought to you by Fender, something that caught my eye in my newsfeed this morning... The Fender Cusrtom Shop White Chicken.

I've never been big on the Tele type of neck, so I'm still not sure about it. But it's definitely an interesting one...

Personally I see the recent mashup trend in guitars as a dearth of creativity, but they seem to be popular enough to continue appearing.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Since I'm no big fan of Tele, I'm always looking for ones with mods.

I like a tele with a Bigsby - or anything other than the traditional tele bridge. Likewise, I don't like single coils too much these days, so the traditional pick up configuration of the telecaster is out.

Still, there is something about the Telecaster which just calls to me - I need one ad I need to find one that works for me.

Oddly enough, the models that I like aren't the big expensive ones most of the time. Like the Squier Vintage Modified Cabronita Telecaster:

Or the Modern Player

A mix of both of these would be pretty awesome...

One wonders if they ever run these designs by a test group of actual end users before the go to a full production model. I mean.....they do want to sell these things, right?

I can't see the photos of the white chicken-just little X boxes but I can see the other Tele photos-must be something to do with how you post but I know the guitar.

I like it. I think Waller did a great job capturing the Gretsch vibe and was smart to go for the White Falcon flavor. White and gold work together IMO.
Not my type of guitar or one that I'd pay for but still...given the thing I'd play the hell out of it.
Knowing that a great luthier built it I can imagine it's a very fine axe to swing.

Maybe something to do w/ imgur, if they have certain limitations, I'm not sure. I can see why some people would find it odd, but like you I think that it must be a very fine guitar.

Here it is for people who can't see it in the first post.

I've got one of these. It's currently in pieces. I bought from a guy off of craigslist for $100. It had an aftermarket pick guard and some crappy single coils in it. I took off the pick guard and discovered the routing for the humbuckers. I ordered the correct Fender hummers and pick guard. I just havent had the time to wire it up and put it together. Great feeling neck that's slimmer than my Standard Tele.

I just bought a Modern Player on eBay a few weeks ago, the Honey Burst model. I never liked teles. I'm a Gibson man. But the last couple years I've been curious about the teles. There are a lot of tones in the Modern Player. The humbucker isn't anything special, but it doesn't sound bad. There's a coil tap switch for it too, which adds to the versatility. The middle single coil is a basic strat single coil. The lipstick single coil in the neck position sounds really good. Very creamy and bluesy. The neck is very smooth playing. I'll tell you, I am very impressed with this guitar, and I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for an additional "color" for their guitar palette. I thought that being made in China, that it would play like crap. But this thing plays and feels great. I couldn't be happier with it. Just my opinion, for what it's worth ...
