ODD Audio Problem in X3e ...

Howdy...
Upon launching X3e ... I get a very low level "sputtering", ground noise like sound... it doesn't get recorded.
Imagine a gnat buzzing in your ear ...that's about the same except much lower pitch...

Nothing else causes this ...process of elimination as to any peripheral audio output...

In addition ...the noise animates per keystrokes ...IOW: it acts as if a sample and hold process is at work with the frequency being tweaked...

There is nothing of this noise in the mixdown / export file.

Any ideas ??

Thanks In Advance for Any Help
Roy

I highly doubt it's an X3e problem. Sounds like RF or ground loop.

If you have a cell phone nearby when you work, start by putting it in another room and see what happens...then go through all wi-fi/bluetooth devices one by one and see if removing any from the premises solves the problem.

As to ground loops, that's about altering ground connections to see what changes.

    HI Craig...

    Thanks for your suggestions!

This is such an odd issue ...perhaps it can only be solved with the help of someone else experiencing same ...

Cellphone is usually outside the studio ...iPad is here being used as modeler and synth ...bluetooth could be something to examine for sure...

All audio connections are secure, isolated from AC lines and as noiseless as one might require...

...reason I came "here" is it only manifests itself when running X3e ...so there is some odd sequence of events...
it's beyond my technical expertise on this one ... however ... the continuing process of elimination will eventually uncover the problem...

...mention of "ground loop" was an analogy for the way the noise sounds...

How about this: in the Audio Drivers screen ... I have 4 separate, stereo drivers for the Focusrite 18i... not sure if that's SOP ...perhaps it is a Focusrite issue

Again ...it only happens when X3e is launched... I don't think it's a prgram issue ...but that's the situation at this time... OFF to explore bluetooth / wifi issues...

In the meantime X3e is keeping clients happy ...and me too!

    Thanks Again Craig!

Are you sure an input isn't enabled or set to input echo by accident?
