Yep, I concur with most everyone on this - it's a very nice ambient textural thing with enough twists to keep it interesting all the way through. My only thought was, if you don't already have it, you *need* to get the Ohmboyz delay....I'm addicted to that thing, and it's perfect for stuff like this.

Great Stuff John, I like it.  The strings are better in this track probably because they are further in the mix.  I like the staccato strings and the middle.  Oh and the final kicker at 4:28.

Full sounding on the monitors.  As always for me I start to lose concentration about 3 minutes in on all tunes, unless there are vocals OR they are showing a video to go along with the tune.  The music and changes are really nice.  They are, well,.......very furry!  you really should put this to a video track.   i listened to a song that really kind of put me in the same mood (Guru Ram Das) but it had beautiful videos/slides going on.  it saved me after my heart surgery when I had panic attacks. I'd listen at 3 in the morning with the lights off and just the video. I got the same vibe from this though it is different.  That's a good thing John!  Here's the link, buddy.  Comparing your feeling on that song to this is meant to be a great compliment.  Get that video done.

Awesomely immersive. I had to crank this one up. The only thing missing is NatGeo grade video, but you don't really need it, because the music does such a fine job of conjuring up the visuals. My mental big screen loves it.
That violin bit at 4:20 is odd, but it grows on you.
You say you don't know what you are doing, but I respectfully disagree. This is a powerfully cinematic piece.

John,

This would be a very good piece for a soundtrack.  Lot of interesting transitions and elements of tranquility, drama, soaring victory, etc...  Well done.

It's ambient... You should try one with a melody and a beat? Think outside of your box.

Thanks Antti.

Thanks for the listen and comment Bob glad you enjoyed the changes.

Heywood just because it is not four to the floor it does not mean there is no beat it just needs to heard rather than pounded into the chest.  Sometimes the melody is implied music can be about what you do not play as much as what you do play. I reserve my more beat orientated stuff to my other writing.

Really nice one, Wookie...     Ambient, yeah, soundtrack-ish, yup.   But still has enough to carry forward without a video.   I also like the strings as-is, I think they fit the overall feel of the piece...  I like the ping-pong delay on the bass/cellos - cool.    The part at 4:18 is a bit jarring at first, but it signals a change, even if temporary.

Hmmm...    This may be one of my favorite pieces from you...

yikes, 4 weeks ago?
i've been busy, sorry....
as always, right off the bat,
you've made some great 'sound' choices...
using these big synth pads and samples,
it is hard to distance an opinion away from the simple 'soundtrack' comparison..
not that there is anything wrong with that...
but you have some definite 'melody' ideas that beg a proper song format using these really cool sounds you create.
and for me,
i'd love to hear electric guitar superimposed over everything.
LOL
ok, not everything...
but man, i hear a wide open playing field here.....

Thanks Gonzo, the tune was inspired by the gate way entrance to a stone circle, Castlerigg in the Lake District which is located in a large field.  The field its self is surrounded by a number of peaks and is said to be a very holy place for the Druids.

I can hear the guitar too but unfortunately the furry fingers do not seem to be able to play what my furry ears hear

This is nice. I like the mix and the ethereal feel. Sometimes I think certain parts could sink in the reverb and come back up but that's just subjective.

Wookie this sounds great.  I really want to hear this on my big stereo at home.  So many soundcloud links here and my employer blocks that site - but none of the other music sites.  So I'm having to listen on my phone, with ear buds.  Still, it was really cool sounding - I kind of tranced as I was working here.

I'll give this another listen on the real stereo.  Nice job!
